I just picked some Wolf Among Weeds up from 4/30/2013, and you sir are correct, it is definitely one of the best DIPAs I have had this year - really surprised by how much I enjoy it

Shed IPA. When fresh, it is a great citrusy IPA with a delicious malt profile. One of the best examples of an English IPA made in the states, IMO.

Genesee Cream Ale. It has a light clean flavor, it is cheap as can be ~.50c per 12oz and is available in cans. Some people may not care for it, but it is a go to for me when I want to drink on the cheap.

My wife's brother lives in Bloomington and the first gift she ever got me was an official Sink the Biz kit from Nick's. Between than, her N64, and her love of Calvin & Hobbes, I knew she was a keeper.

First let me say, I LOVE THIS THREAD! So sick of all the "Name the worst" "I wish this brewer would die" threads on BA. This thread right here..... this is advocacy.

That said, there are plenty of "mediocre" beers that I would love to defend. But of the ones that I have rated, I choose Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale. Really complex layering of smoked malts, with a maple syrup twist. It had a great brown ale base to it as well, that gave it just the right body.

I'm always amazed at how much my palette has changed since I first started drinking beer. The first Aecht Schlenkerla I had was in college, and I thought it was so foul, it may have been my first ever drain-pour. Then I started drinking smoked beers more (not sure why...try everything twice maybe?) and now I find them to be as refreshing as could be.

Yuengling lager & light lager are usually my year-round go to beers. In the summer, I also turn to Blue Moon and Shock top pretty regularly, since they taste decent for the price. I could spend a little more and get a bit of a better tasting beer, but then I wouldn't be able to afford to buy as much as I do.

St. Pauli Girl - just about the same price as many AALs for a case and much tastier.

Heineken Light - I haven't bought it in a while, but if I'm hanging out and being sociable I'll pick that over stronger craft beer.

The BA reviews give it a 7.26/10, so that's not a very charitable defense. :grinning:

I'd go with Yuengling or Jockamo. The former's cheap, palatable, and always welcome at a barbecue. The latter I think suffers from comparison to other IPAs, but as a beer I think it hits the spot.

I haven’t seen anyone post about Schlitz 1960’s Formula beer yet. In the context of the AAL style that is a pretty good beer!

Others that I will give a shout out to are: Genny Bock (the best bang for the buck AAL), Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale (which is a lager by the way), and Yuengling Lager.

    Cheers!

STAG. Almost 100% sure it is a combination of the highest rated/cheapest beer around.

Was just about to type this. I'm not sure what it is, but when it's 95 degrees and 90% humidity, this beer is just so drinkable. Had it a few weeks ago on a warm-ish spring day, and not so much. I guess there is a time and place for most beers.

i defend lots of medicore/average beers all the time. I don't always have to have my mind blown to enjoy drinking a beer.

Yuengling has been and always will be my go-to beer, even though it's not available in Mass. = ( It's not too light, not dark. Real crisp and refreshing any time, but especially after a long day at work.
