If a mere hangover feels like "death", maybe.....

    Oh, poor child.

I choose to go easy on you.

But, I been doing this shit a long time. I see no need to punish myself more, by drinking nasty shit, when there are more palatable options available.

    You do you, brotatosalad.....

Perfect! Just in time for Thirsty Thursday.

Guys, guys, it's been mentioned already, but if the goal is rehydrating, it's Pedialyte all the way.

And you can make it at home too and save money using sugar, salt, and baking soda.

Of course the real cure is time...but that's not fun. Exercise has been said to possibly help as well, if you can handle it depending on the severity of the hangover.

Pedialyte has those popsicles now that are pretty tasty.

The lady who cuts my hair swears by a product called DripDrop. Can be found on Amazon. I have not used it so I can't say how well it works. Pedialyte is my go-to.

This is similar to something that happened to me once, though I actually felt fine the next day for several hours before the symptoms kicked in. I'm not saying this is what happened to you, but I figure I'll offer up this story since I think it might be relevant to the question.

After a night in Vegas of far too many free manhattans capped off with an epic junk food spree, I gave myself an acute case of gastritis. "Gastritis" is kind of a catch all term for a bunch of stomach issues, but the gist is that you inflame your stomach lining which leads to intense nausea, upset stomach, sweating etc. without the usual accompanying headache. An acid reducer can decrease the symptoms but otherwise you just have to wait it out. Long term very heavy drinking, as well as infections and autoimmune disorders can cause chronic gastritis.

It was the most nauseas I've ever felt and not something I ever want to repeat. If you find something like this happening to you a lot, it might be worth getting checked out. Otherwise, just try not to drink 10 manhattans and half of the snack aisle in one sitting :grimacing:

I can attest to @nc41 's story... after a Sunday of day drinking I can wake up at 4:15 AM Monday, hit the gym, and feel fine until 2-3 hours into work.

Water and time the drinks were consumed in is a big part of the feeling sh!tty. So is the amount of good sleep you get the night previous. I think keeping your stomach somewhat empty is also a big contributor. I eat cereal for breakfast 99% of the time - it might make you feel full but it doesn't fill you up. 2-3 cups of coffee on an empty-ish stomach also doesn't help.

I think anyone who over indulges knows the repercussions, we all know that part. But there’s the every now and then where I don’t drink a lot, but the day goes south after I wake up. Most times no problems at all, I’ve had them since I was in my 20s and it’s not common, but it does happen. It’s not violent, I don’t get the sweats, I don’t get sick per say, just feel shitty for 5-6 hours, the thing that made me ask is the waking up feeling great for an hour or so, I find that odd. I’m a big guy, and drinking 4 beers and a few gin and tonics over 10 hours or so certainly isn’t prodigious, I certainly wasn't drunk nor was a buzzed when I woke up, I had some coffee and no breakfast. I’ve woken up buzzed, hell I’ve woken up completely hammered, that wasn’t yesterday though. It doesn’t happen often enough to connect the dots, but I’m thinking a combo of being at the pool in the heat all afternoon combined with no liquid that wasn’t a beer or a G and T. Ive never thought about dehydration, but I’m pretty sure that’s part of this thing, I should know better though. I think a glass of ice water mixed in with a night of drinking makes a lot of sense.

I love V-8 and know it's a good choice for hangover or not. I get the low sodium version and drink it weekly. My Granddad used to blend tomato juice and Budweiser. It was his morning drink. I really try not to tell others what is good and not, but do offer opinions about what I do like.

Yes, I can drink 2 beers and wake up great. By the time I get to work my head is exploding. I always blame the hops and lack of sleep. On the other hand I can over indulge by many and feel fine after good sleep.

Thinking water before bed would help.

    Enjoy

Water while drinking beer/liquor always lessens the hangover symptoms and speeds up recovery - you visit the bathroom a lot more but worth it for the positive results!!!!

Yeah, this has happened to me a few times. Drink three or four over the course of an evening (nothing crazy), sleep, and wake up feeling just fine. Have some coffee, drive to the gym and about a half-hour in, it hits. Nausea, hot flashes, bit of dizziness... When it starts, I usually go in the sauna and/or hot tub, then head home, take a nap, and wake up feeling much better. I’m 52 and started noticing it a couple of years ago. Usually bums me out, because I’m like, “Man, I’m feeling good!” and then whammo.
I could list a bunch of other body changes that came on after leap-frogging 50 if you wanna hear ‘em...

I would imagine that being in the sun all day with no water (even if you hadn't drank the ten or so drinks you mentioned) could be the cause of what you're feeling today. Dehydration can really creep up on you. You also mentioned drinking coffee first thing in the morning which some people claim is a diuretic. I suppose that could contribute to your dehydration even more, though I'm not sure if there's actually substantial science behind that one.

Mix in some water next time you're indulging out in the heat. Or at least a big glass before bed!

As others have said...probably still drunk.....for me my biggest issue is sleep...I'll sleep for maybe three hours and then I'm up for another 3....sometimes I watch TV or work out to try and tire myself out during that time...

That water and snack right before bed after a long night of drinking is 10000x more important than drunk me believes it is!

That on top of probable dehydration sounds like a recipe for feeling shitty.

I’m thinking so to, at least I’m not the only one who this happens to, but I’m really terrible about drinking water, and it’s been terribly hot here too. Misery loves company.
