My wife is delivering our second child (a girl) sometime in the next week. As much as I looooove my beer fridge and beer porch and beer culture and all of it.... I want my wits about me for that process. Not to mention, those beers you listed are huge ABV beers and you WILL smell like a bar. Plus you probably won't even taste them. If you want to sip a beer for the sake of sipping a beer, smuggle in a few cans of something you won't regret wasting and that are easy drinking.

But since you asked, I think your idea is nice in theory, but not very practical. And you are going to get almost no sleep for a while. I'd cool your jets for a day or two and have one when you get home and everyone is asleep.

Congrats on the son! Being a father is amazing.

Drank the CBS when fam went to sleep and got in an IPA a friend brought the next day when visiting...def no time for much when you're up half the night :-)

    Congrats on the kid.

I really don't see this as "commitment", don't most people like to incorporate their hobbies into major life events? I am not sure this is a issue that needs help either, it this wife and hospital are cool with it, have fun. From my personal perspective, it seems like slight overkill and I would save the booze for home. I also work for a hospital and prefer to keep my work and hobbies separate.
