Going to be working in beautiful Demotte, IN next week. I see that 3 Floyds is about 30 miles away so I'll obviously be hitting that up. Also 18th street isn't too far. Aside from those two, what are some good bottle shops in the area? Or any other good breweries? I'll be on the lookout for Hopslam, Zombie Dust, BCBS, Surly, along with others.

FFF's is probably closer to an hour from Demotte, but still worth going for sure. BCBS is long gone (unless you get lucky). Surly doesn't distribute to IN, you'll need to head into Chicago for that.

    Demotte... lol man I'm sorry.

I doubt you will find BCBS. Surly distributes to Illinois but not to Indiana, so you will need to go over the border for that.

Some good shops in NWI would be Liquor Stop in Highland, Delock's in Dyer and Munster usually have a decent selection of FFF stuff. Wiseguys in Merrillville has a big selection.

Zombie Dust your best bet is to get it straight from FFF on a day they release it.

There are quite a few new breweries around the area now. 3 in Griffith, 1 in St John, 1 in Merrillville, 1 in Dyer, 1 in Lowell, 1 in Crown Point (which has been there for a while). But FFF and 18th should be your first choices.

Look for beer from Burnem Brewing, they make great stuff.

If you head to Illinois, Binny's is your best bet for selection. Orland Park and Evergreen Park are probably the closest locations. They will have Surly for sure, as well as all the local Chicago stuff.

There are a few breweries in Griffith IN (on the way to FFF) you can check out; Wildrose and New Oberpfalz. Also, Surly does not distribute to IN.

The Liquor Stop on Indianapolis Blvd. in Highland carries some of the local stuff and a bunch of other things. Almost directly across the street is Cask and Cellar. Both usually have a bunch of FFF stuff. The Liquor has a facebook page you can get their address. A little closer to you (liquor store wise) is a huge wise guys store. I have not been in there in awhile so not sure what they are carrying. This store is right off of I65. Get off at the route 30 exit, might be called the
Merrillville exit and head east. At the next light, Mississippi St. turn left and the store will be on your right in the large shopping area.

Watch FFF's web page for when they put ZD on the "bottles to go page" http://www.3floyds.com/beers-to-go/ Usually goes up every week and a half and last maybe 2 days tops. I would plan your trip there based off of the availability if you have flexibility. Limit is 2 cases.

If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

Great tips guys thanks. Yeah I didn't think Surly was in Indiana but I planned on driving to IL for that. I'll look up Binny's

Torrance Liquors in Calumet City, one exit after Munster, usually has some Surly cans in stock along with some Chicago stuff that doesn't make it to NWI.

If you're heading to Binny's, there's a bunch of other things to consider. Pipeworks Ninja v Unicorn, Lizard King, any Pipeworks bombers you may come across, Almanac sours, Cascade, 51st ward Krispy (or Krispier) Karl, Half Acre, Revolution, just to name some. Wild Onion Drago is surprisingly excellent and should still be around.

Check the canning dates on Surly, their stuff sits on the shelves forever. You can't get fresh furious, coffee bender, etc. I would just get other things instead unless fresh abrasive is out again.

I grew up in DeMotte. You must have pulled the short straw or have been put on some kind of probation. Are you working at the dairies? From DeMotte, the closest decent liquor store would be either of the Wise Guys stores in Merrillville. Their Superstore on Route 30 (east of I-65) is the largest shop in NWI. They have about anything that distros to NWI. Nick's Liquors and Pete's Liquor Bucket are also both in Merrillville, west of I-65. From Merrillville, 18th Street is only 10/15 minutes north. Binny's South Loop store is an hour and half drive from DeMotte. How long will you be in town?

Gonna be there Sunday through Thursday. I work in management for a trucking company and we have an office out there, so thank god it's not the dairies haha.

It's not too sketchy if you follow the signs and stay on the main roads. I'd personally spend some extra time, go to Four Winds in New Buffalo Michigan and hit up Greenbush Brewing instead.

If you head out to Michigan you should stop by burn em brewing. Also my liquor store in Valparaiso gets zd every Thursday so you might want to check that out if you can. Valparaiso university has a beer store across street called trail inn and they usually get good stuff consistently.

Well, I guess I phrased that a little incorrectly. The beer store I frequent (It's a geometric shape with 3 sides) don't want to be painfully obvious. For the simple fact this might be the end of my Thursday streak. They limit 1 and charge too much (around$15) but I don't complain that I don't have to make the hike to Munster.

^^^That's a good deal isn't it? I realize ZD is only $10 at the brewery but around Chicagoland the 6 pks are in the $16-$20 range.

I've never seen a six pack outside of the brewery, so I had no idea what they go for.

On the road now. Are there any good bottle shops on 265 north in Indy? Or heading up 65 north

I'd recommend Devil's Trumpet Brewing in Hobart off Route 30 and I-65. Stop there on your way to Three Floyd's.

Personally, I'd much rather hit Horseshoe than Ameristar. Horseshoe is a Ceasar's property so the players club perks will transfer to Vegas.
