Hi All, My wife and I are headed to Denmark next week for a two-week vacation. We start with a few days in Copenhagen. Then off to see family friends in Skjern and Aarhus. We finish our trip with a weekend in Bornholm. We'd like to drink as many local Danish brews as possible. CHP-I’d like to hit up at least one of the Mikkeller spots. There are a few BA threads on the city, anything we should definitely go to? Skjern-Going to Rakker Molle Bryghus. Sounds like a small town so there might not be a lot going on. Aarhus-? Bornholm-Going to Svaneke Bryghus. I’d also like to grab some Danish bottles to take back to the states. What brewery should I look for? Any recommendations of places to visit and breweries to try are much appreciated. Cheers
Lot of answers here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...openhagen-what-are-the-must-try-stops.376223/ And here: http://mikkeller.dk/2016/04/27/mikkeller-beer-week-event-listing/
Thanks for the links. The beer week events look fantastic. Surprised to see so many US brewers coming over. You'll definitely want to hit up the Hill Farmstead event and the FFF one too.
If you want to drink as many Danish brews as possible in Copenhagen, keep Mikkeller Bar time to a minimum. They are great and worth a visit, but it's mostly Mikkeller beers (which are truly Belgian in origin) and a smattering of USA/UK/Scandinavia. You'll find the most Danish brews at Taphouse, Lord Nelson (exclusively Danish), Ølsnedkeren (tons of stuff from small Danish breweries, mostly regional), Fermentoren (maybe best overall beer bar in CPH, IMO), Ørstel (20 taps and a pretty solid bottle list with Cantillon if you were so inclined). For food spots, Manfreds has a pretty great tasting menu and is affordable for CPH standards, hardly any beer though. Copenhagen Street Food Market is a fantastic warehouse with food stands of all types, and there is a bar in the back serving Danish craft beers. The number one toursity thing I can recommend to do is take the Canal Tour; particularly if you have a sunny day, and do it early in the visit.

Great info. I might have to stop by the FFF or Hill Farmstead Mikkeller beer week event. I've been to the Mikkeller in SF a few times, so I'd rather drink some Danish beers. Looking forward to hitting up a few of these spots. Cantillion is a nice bonus. We're definitely doing the canal tour. It's not far from where were staying. Thanks for the suggestions. Prost!!!
Agree with all of this. Taphouse & Brew Pub KBH were more enjoyable for us than War Pigs and Mikkeller (though we also enjoyed those).
Don't go!!! Only joking, there's a Fermentoren. We didn't make it to the Copenhagen version, but wish had.
I'd add Søernes Ølbar (sister to Ørsted Ølbar) and TAP10 ("Nordic" not just Danish) to the list of places to give a look. And of course Ølbaren. Results of my last few visits at www.BeerGuideCPH.com
I'll be over in CPH from the 15th until the 22nd of August. Having checked out info on all of these locations it seems Himmeriget has the most amazing selection. My budget doesn't allow me to just splurge on bottles like this so I was wondering it fellow beer geeks will be visiting in this period that would be up for sharing some bottles? Of course locals would be great as well. Mostly after some of the rare Cantillon as well as some Westbrook, Pappy Jesus etc.
Well we are quite a few people living near! I Think that if you are in Copenhagen for such a long time you should most definately go over to Malmö in Sweden for a day. @miamichael2 will agree I guess?
Yes I've been to both cities before and will probably make it over to Malmö again for a day. Lovely city. Still looking for beerbuddies to share some nice bottles though
