Just bottled Denny Conn's Imperial Porter. I added bourbon soaked oak chips instead of straight bourbon and this beer is amazing! It tastes like straight chocolate and vanilla with an "oaky" background. Cannot wait for this to carb up! Sorry for the rant, but my last batch turned out terribly and I'm just stoked for this success, so I thought I would share with some people who might appreciate this.
I will be brewing this in the next couple of weeks, very excited to do so, it will be my xmas beer this year
This was my first all grain recipe if I recall correctly. It turned out fantastic for me as well, though I stuck to the bourbon/vanilla tincture, no oak. I rebrewed the base recipe two months ago and aged it on coconut (flaked organic type). I then split the batch at bottling. Half was coconut-coffee and half was coco-rum. Both turned out pretty well. (I also filled a growler with half Coco-Coffee & half Coco-Rum. Haven't opened that one yet..) Cheers!
