Hi Everyone, I'll be in Denver 6/19 - 6/23, but primarily have 6/19 (Wednesday evening), 6/20 (Thursday morning until late afternoon), and 6/23 (all day Sunday) free to check things out. Might be able to squeeze in a place or two on Friday/Saturday but already have other activities planned those days. Between a few other threads and Places there's good information, but looking for additional insight. I'll be staying a little northwest of Mile High Stadium Wednesday/Thursday then Union Station Sunday, but can get around via Uber/Lyft/etc. Food Recommendations (Brewery with Good Food or Restaurant with Good Beer) Wednesday (dinner), Thursday (breakfast/brunch/lunch), Sunday (lunch/dinner) Pretty much any cuisine is cool Beer Releases/Events Anything going on 6/19 - 6/23? Newer/Up and Coming Breweries Any to look out for? Some breweries I'm considering checking out... Cerebral Brewing TRVE Brewing Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales Dos Luces Brewery (seems interesting) River North Brewery Crooked Stave (been here before, we get some of their beer in Ohio) Odell Brewery (had some of their beer before and can probably get it around Denver) Comrade Brewing Company Novel Strand Brewing Company Woods Boss Brewing Company Grateful Gnome (near where I'm staying Wednesday/Thursday) Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for any advice!
The biggest thing in the area is the WeldWerks Invitational Fest up in Greeley on Saturday. If you have the freedom of movement and time that's the biggest thing.
Bierstadt for awesome German beers. Hogshead for awesome cask English beers. And if you can to Bierstadt, may as well hit Ratio Brewery and Finn's Manor bar (good tap list right across the street).
(D)IPA's, Sours, Porters, Stouts (not necessarily barrel aged), well-done Lagers/Pilsners. Don't typically seek out Belgian/German styles, but if there's a place that's known to have good ones I'd check it out. With a relatively limited amount of time, I think Cerebral, TRVE, and Black Project will have me covered. Normally I'd throw Crooked Stave in the mix, but been there before so it's not a must. Dos Luces seems unique and worth a visit if it's near something else. Novel Strand, Woods Boss, Comrade seem right up my alley. Maybe River North too. But have to be somewhat selective.
I'd second Dos Luces, plus Black Project is right next to it. One of the cooler drinking experiences I've ever had. Definitely worth checking out and something I imagine you can't get anywhere else in the U.S. If you go to Grateful Gnome, I'd say check out De Steeg. It's right behind it. I feel like they fly under a lot of people's radars, but they're real good, and literally across the alley from GG. They have some great Belgians, but also have some other interesting offers. Hogshead is like a 5-minute drive from there and I'd say definitely don't miss out on them. One of my other favorite breweries that's close to there is Seedstock. Maybe a 10-minute drive from GG, closer to Hogshead. Mostly traditional Eastern European styles, all done very well. If you're looking for solid lagers that aren't from Bierstadt, I think they're worth a try.
I think TRVE is an absolute must given your interests. It is a unique taproom for the area and checks off several of your wants. They are about a 90 second walk from Baere Brewing, so you could try a quick sample flight there if you have some time. Black Project & Dos Luces combo is great. That crosses off hyped wild beer and something super unique. Maybe double check Black Project's tap list before heading that way. They have had more beer on as of late, but sometimes they are down to only a couple beers. If you're staying near Grateful Gnome, my suggestion would be to try to do a couple things in that area. You mentioned porters, and Hogshead makes the best one maybe in the whole damn country (which is pure magic on cask, good cask beer being another rare thing most places). There are several quite good breweries in that 2-mile stretch, but Hogshead is where I would start. I'd also grab a bite at Hops & Pie; they usually have one of the best tap lists in the state. I'm piling on here, but Bierstadt is really top notch. I'd have a Slow Pour Pils (or 3) there, then head over to Finn's Manor, which almost always has an apeshit tap list and amazing cocktails.
Definitely hit up Comrade if you like IPAs. They still have the triple dry-hopped Superpower IPA and the La Cumbre collab, Make IPA Clear Again
I'll be in Denver for the first time on Sunday through Wednesday so this hello me too! Totally going for that slow pour pils!
Stopped at Hops & Pie for dinner last night. Great pizza (both Thin and Detroit Style). Had a Slow Pils and a 5 or so different 3oz pours. Great start to the trip!
