I am planning to be in Denver soon and was looking for websites or apps that might list local beer events, or provide information on where to find certain beers either on tap at bars or available in stores. Most cities have something like that but I couldn't find anything online that was Denver-focused. Are there any websites out there that can provide this kind of information?
I will be in the area next week. Starting out Tuesday in Boulder but will make my way to Denver that night, where I will be staying through Thursday night. Really interested in trying limited release stuff or beers from great new breweries. Been well over a year since my last trip and discovered Dry Dock that time so am certainly interested in seeing what they have been up to since that time.
Yup, while a bit cavernous, that thread covers almost all of the places that have opened recently. If you need help with advice or finding any of them, just post here (or there) and we'll all help you out. IMO, very few places are making full-on world beater stuff, but there are very few places putting out full-on bad stuff, too. Depending on where you'll be, you can pretty safely just go for the most convenient places.
Been reading about Crooked Stave - production sounds very limited. Would I be likely to find any of their beers around next week?
I was at Great Divide last week and they had Baby Yeti. That wasn't the name, but that's what it was.
Most of the betters stores around the metro area have at least one or two of their beers so as long as you're not dead set on one that was put out awhile ago (or only available to RS members) you should be good.
Wow, what a lot of new breweries there are in the area! Hope the market can support them. Quite a few are only open on weekends so they are out as I am leaving Friday. Of those that are opened during the week, Copper Kettle and TRVE both sound interesting. Any thoughts on those two?
Trve is alright, great feel inside ... long wooden viking-like table, theyre claim to fame is Prehistoric Dog, a salted wheat beer. interesting, but not fantastic. Copper Kettle has Mexican Chocolate Stout which I consider to be off the charts fantastic. Get it at all costs. Currently they have an oak aged Imperial stout which is good and a bacon scotch brown which is OK, but not phenominal. They just released a basil blonde which i liked alot and a cherry wheat which i found to be lackluster.
Copper Kettle is one of my favorite spots around town. Their German stuff is good, Mexican Chocolate Stout is amazing, and pretty much any other random item they have (like the oaked impy stout or basil blonde) will be solid if not really good. If you can make it there, you're also only about a mile from the Bull and Bush. Their kitchen is sadly closed for the next few weeks, but they're tapping their best loved beers pretty much all month. TRVE honestly has pretty good beers, but they're out of things a lot, and they even had to back off of being open on Sunday because they kept running out of everything. Their IPA variants are good but you can never be sure what they'll have when you arrive. Good beers and a cool atmosphere, but they have some kinks to work out on the logistical side. If you're in that general area, Renegade isn't far. They're a safer bet. Maybe not necessarily better beers, but you can be sure that they'll have plenty. Their double IPA is wonderful, and a steal at $4.
They didn't make an announcement about Sunday hours. I went there last weekend and they were closed. I should have to check their hours before I go. I also like how their motto is "Beyond the Pale" and they had a Belgian Pale, Black India Pale, and India Pale.
