    So I am travelling from the great craft-brew state of Connecticut to Denver, I guess kind of like a pilgrimage. Would love some recommendations for places to visit for great craft beer & food. Also, would love to bring bring some beers back with me that really represent the Denver/Colorado scene. Already have a list based on reading these fabulous forums & recently re-watching the Brew Dogs episode! Cheers!

    If you're looking for both good beer and food in the same place - I'd recommend Euclid Hall, Vine St. Pub, Cheeky Monk, Freshcraft, & Lucky Pie. Those are all downtown'ish with the Cheeky Monk and Vine St. being a little bit east of the main downtown area. The Source (home to Crooked Stave) also has 2 restaurants within, although they aren't connected directly to the tasting room. Colt & Grey is a bit more high end, but won't disappoint. Avoid all of the breweries near there, although the Breckenridge Alehouse @ Amato's is excellent.

    I 2nd FreshCraft!
    great tap selection and solid food offerings just off the 16th Street Mall.

    Go to Falling Rock or Starr Bar to see what a real beer bar has to offer as well.

    and bring home some Odell from Fort Collins (Can be found at any front range beer/liquor store)

    I'll handle your take home as the other two have handled your consumption while here :slight_smile:

    Here are my favorites bottle shops:
    • Mile High: 15 min west of downtown
    • Mondo Vino: 5 min west of downtown
    • Mr. B's: Downtown
    • Grapevine: 15 min SW of downtown (and go to Comrade if you visit this store)

    I would also recommend trading a bit since the more sought-after beers tend to disappear from the shelves within a day or two.

    Enjoy!

    And take the trek out to Hops & Pie too!

    Or The B-Side, great tap list and best fried chicken you've ever had. Then stumble 2-doors down to Denver Bicycle Cafe

    We do get Odell's in CT, so is there anything unique to this area in bottles to look out for?

    I am not sure if I will get chance to venture out of downtown, so will do my best to get to Mr. B's and shop. Would love to do some trading but I didn't get a chance to prepare & shop unfortunately. Cheers!

    Hops & Pie already on the watch list, & I hear it can be crowded so sounds fun! Now, I am super intrigued for B-Side, as last year in Nashville one highilght was some of their amazing hot chicken. Cheers!

    You should be able to pick up some bottles from Crooked Stave bottles if you make it to The Source.

    Have a great time here!

    I've only tried one of their sours here in CT and didn't like it. I'm hoping to go there a try a flight to better find out if I even like sours. Any kinds to recommend?

    I call Crooked Stave beers tart, not sour. Although Origins (and versions of it) is sour. While all of their beers are Brett, you get more of the flavor of that yeast than sourness.

    If you don't like sour or tart, brett-forward beers Crooked Stave might not be for you. Still, you don't know until you try....

    Other bottle suggestions that represent Colorado include:

    Elevation Apis IV or Oil Man;
    Avery Uncle Jacobs (you can probably still find this floating around);
    Great Divide Yeti (whatever variants happen to be floating around);
    Dry Dock Bligh's Barleywine (you might still be able to find this floating around);
    Casey Brewing and Blending Saison (this may be on the tart/brett side of things, but damn its good);
    Funkwerks Saison, Deceit, or Tropic King; and
    Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout (pretty commonplace, but still a good example of the style).

    Nice...now that spring is here and my hoarding instincts for big stouts and barleywines are kicking in, I may have to swing by and pick one up. In case, ya know, I need a barleywine in July.

    If you're not really into sours or saisons, I would think about hitting some of the other world class bars or breweries.

    Thanks! Since I've only tried 1 sour, I'm hoping to try more and see how I like them or not. So Crooked Stave seems like a good destination this trip. I love saison/Brett type beers so that is very enticing. We have that Left Hand out east and love it. cheers!

    Bligh's is a hidden gem and still around at plenty of stores. It's one of the better BA barleywine's around.
    Almost anything you get from Funkwerks will be good. Ditto with Elevation and Backcountry, too.
