I'll be in Denver this October (unfortunately post-GABF) and I'm hoping to get some advice on where to go for great beers.
    Looking for:
    Great Taprooms
    Unique beer
    Unforgettable food

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Falling Rock for sure. I enjoyed going to Great Divide. Not sure how far away the place is that has the Rocky Mountain Oyster stout but that would check your unique box for sure.

If you have a car I would definitely check out Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids.

this will get moved to the Regional sub-forum.

FYI - If your flight out is delayed, there is a New Belgium bar in the Airport.

Visit all the local brewpubs. One of my favs http://www.thesourcedenver.com/crooked-stave

The Falling Rock is a must

Also if you haven't picked a hotel...the Yard House is attached to the Sheraton and it's got a decent beer selection and decent food.

Reused from an email to another visiting BA:

Here are some well regarded breweries around town:
    • Oscar Blues (go to the actual brewery, not restaurant)
    • Crooked Stave (if you dig sours, people go ape shit over this place)
    • Avery (in boulder)
    • Great Divide (right downtown)

Here are three extremely well regarded beer bars:
    • Falling Rock
    • FreshCraft
    • Euclid Hall

Here are my favorite beer stores:
    • Mile High (20 minutes west of the city)
    • Davidsons (20 minutes south of the city)
    • Small Batch Liquors (10 minutes west of the city)
    • Argonaut (In the heart of the city)

If you want to make a roadtrip, New Belgium and O'Dell Brewing in Ft. Collins. You can probably spend an entire weekend at O'Dell brewing.

In Denver, Copper Kettle Brewing. It's kind of a hike/bike ride to the outskirts of the city but they have a very good Mexican chocolate stout and a very nice glass for it. I do not recommend taking the bus there; trust me on this one.

Was there last weekend for a bit. I only got to try a few places, but I really liked Lowdown Brewery. The beer I had there was really good, and they had these bacon wrapped peppers as an appetizer that were phenomenal. I also went to Falling Rock, the beer selection was pretty good, and the food was alright (just had a burger), but the service was pretty terrible. They were pretty busy but I don't feel that is a good excuse.

If you want to take a step away from beer the Cruise Room was awesome!

Falling rock does have an amazing selection; however, their service is typically horrible, and a lot of locals don't go there because of it. I'd check out: Vine Street Pub, Fresh Craft, Euclid Hall, Hops and Pie, Cooked Stave (The Source), and Renegade.

Absolutely Euclid Hall for great food and great beers.

Great Divide is right downtown Denver, great brewery, awesome beers.

The Bull and the Bush; really great bar with a unique atmosphere.

If you have time to make a trip outside Denver, Fort Collins- Odelll, New Belgium; Boulder- Avery; Longmont- Oskar Blues, Left Hand. Plus a ton more lesser known but just as quality breweries.

Euclid Hall is cool atmosphere with unique food and a great chef. They also have good beer selection and suggested pairings. I would also recommend Yard House (a more corporate feel but good food and 100's of beers). Please don't judge my great city based on 16th street alone; we aren't all pothead burnouts!

Also check out Linger in the Highlands for a neighborhood atmosphere and fantastic city views

If you're looking for awesome taplists and great food at the same location, I'd recommend Freshcraft and Hops & Pie. Don't eat the food at Falling Rock. :grimacing:

My favorite bars in Denver: Freshcraft, Hops & Pie, Star Bar, Colorado Plus and World of Beer Cherry Creek (heard good things about Ernie's)
Breweries: Great Divide, River North, Brewery Rickoli, Station 26, Renegade, TRVE, Bull & Bush (good food), Dry Dock and Crooked Stave.
Sure I missed a few, plenty of great places in the Golden, Boulder, Longmont, Ft. Collins and every place in between too.
