Just visited a friend that lives less than a mile from the Deschutes Brewery. Went on a tour of the brewery and it really opened my eyes to how great of a company as a whole they are. Found out that you can go into the brewery and get 4 tasters for free every day, we thought that was the coolest thing ever. Bought a few shirts, an Abyss sweatshirt, and some other misc nick nacks. This brewery deserves all the love and appreciation out there. Great beer.

They date all their stuff clearly!!!
Last time I went to the grocery store for beer a dude and his girlfriend walk up and just clear the place of Black Butte. Thought that was hilarious. He was fiendin for a fix.
I've only had a handful of their offerings but they are all solid especially Abyss. Ohmuhgaw...

It truly is their excellent customer service that makes them a stand out brewery. Perfect phrasing...

Deschutes appreciation? Count me in. Mirror Pond, Black Butte, and Obsidian are all prime examples of their respective styles and we're really lucky they're so widely available and inexpensive. And then there's Abyss and their anniversary beers! They are sort of SN-like in that they make a wide range of amazing stuff, price it all reasonably, and then somehow don't get half the buzz a lot of lesser breweries do for one or two interesting high-priced releases.

    Also from NY
Was lucky enough to enjoy Obsidian, Mirror Pond and Black Butte last year when I was in San Fran for SF beer week
I would be thrilled if Deschutes was available in upstate NY

I had a few Inversion IPA on draft in Dallas last year and I loved it. It doesn't get too much love on here, but I am still looking forward to the day I drink it again. No Deschutes in PA :slight_frown:

Great beer, reasonably priced, good people. Probably my favorite brewery. I'll be ecstatic when I can finally buy their stuff in GA. I've been to Bend, OR twice and each time I want to pick up and move there.

I'm having their Red Chair pale ale and it is just heavenly.
I would love to clone this one.

They do pretty much everything right -- although I'll break with consensus and note that I hate Mirror Pond. Way too harsh for a beer of its style (I have the same issues with Sierra Pale). Red Chair, however, is now bar none my favorite session beer I have ready access to (both Alpha King and Zombie Dust would rate ahead if I had access).

But Deschutes is amazing. Great everyday beers, good distribution, and spectacular limited releases.

In addition to loving their brews, I love this little movie: .

If you can, try and give The Abyss, Jubel 2010 and Mirror Mirror a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

I like most of what I've had from Deschutes and certainly would not mind seeing them distribute to NC. They actually came to a beer festival here recently and I was super excited to see what they'd bring, only to get there and see them with only four of their year-round regular beers. Oddly, Abyss is probably the beer I've liked the least from them, though it was not bad. The Black Butte anniversary series that I've had have all blown it out of the water.
