    two drawbacks for me:

1-it is not sold in maryland, wher i am located! my in laws live in pa, so i get to grab it when we visit them. (personally i would visit weekly, the beer shopping would cost me too much though!)

2-my wife, formerly not an ipa fan, loves this! so, when i get it, we now buy it to share (i know, true love)! the same thing has also happened with grapefruit sculpin, two hearted, jai alai, hop ranch and dirtwolf! i would say she has been somewhat converted.

personally, i really enjoy it, although i have not yet been overexposed.

It's threads like these that make me seek out fresh bottles of this. Thanks BA. haha

Freshness will affect this beer tremendously, since this beer relies on its juicy citrus-hops/malt presence to be balanced in order for the beer to be good. The fruit flavor will dissipate first, then the hop oils will become less potent, and after about 3-4 months the malt will start becoming more apparently sweet and caramel-y. Further, if you do keep this beer refrigerated or your local beer shop does the same, this beer will be good for another month or two...
Then maybe we can enjoy one of the best single ipa's readily available in most states. Ie. Deschutes

For a standard non-double IPA, its my new favorite as well. Probably in the top 5 of doubles if I counted them. Had it both on tap and bottle, delicious both ways.

I had this for the first time this summer when I was in Kansas City. So glad I found it. It converted the guy I was with, a non-IPA guy ("I don't like them bitter beers") into an IPA guy. I went to Austin a month later and bought some more and this time brought it home. Maybe my favorite non-double IPA, as others mentioned before. It's close between this and Jai Alai, neither of which I can get in SC.

Yup. One of my least favorite aspects about moving back to NJ recently was the lack of Deschutes. Brought back some Abyss, but really gonna miss this, Hop In the Dark, and Red Chair.

Ditto. Something must have changed (had both on tap and packaged).

What's the window on the "Enjoy by" date?
Or phrased another way, how fresh is it if it says "Enjoy by ___"?

Agreed. If this ever came in cans, it would be my go to beer.

I had this same experience. I bought a bomber back before it was a year round beer and was blown away. Probably (at the time ) my favorite ipa. Since its gone to year round availability, it just doesn't seem like the same beer. Still very good and very affordable. Definitely still enjoy it a lot. It's just not quite the experience I had the very first time I tried it.

I love this as well. Sweetwater IPA converted me to IPAs, but if I had this first, I'm guessing it would have done it too. I love citrus IPAs.

In my Top 5, which has prompted me to think about the other 4 -- probably Stone, Sculpin, SN Hop Hunter, Union Jack, Racer 5, DFH 60 minute -- arg, too many . .

Gotta say I was pretty underwhelmed by the fresh bottle that I had last night...not nearly as fruity/juicy as I remember but will give the other 5 a fair shake...

An enjoyable beer, but not a go to for myself. For some reason I always get an odd apricot taste?
