Just a quick post of love for Deschutes. During the last few weeks, I’ve been discovering or rediscovering beers from a number of craft beer forbearers, and Deschutes is simply an amazing overall brewery. Their standard lineup is stellar – Mirror Pond, Black Butte, Obsidian, etc – and their seasonals are exceptional – Red Chair, Jubelale, Hop Trip. Obviously, their bigger beers like Abyss and the Black Butte Anniversary series are stalwarts of their respective styles, but I think much of their regular offerings are often overlooked. They’re all expertly made with such a subtle hand that you can either really pick apart each component or just turn your mind off and enjoy an outstanding beer. Kudos.

Long story short: Pick up some Black Butte or Mirror Pond soon and thank me later.

Agreed! Wish they'd come to NC. I picked up Fresh Squeezed and Black Butte in Northern VA over Thanksgiving, which were IMO the best choices on the shelf for an IPA and Porter/Stout that isn't imperial.

It definitely rivals Sierra Nevada in terms of core beer quality and dependability. Plus, The Abyss is one of my all time favorites!

We had Fresh Squeezed on at the Reds' ballpark all season, and it was definitely the best bang for the buck.

For me, they can certainly match each other beer for beer.

Obsidian is maybe one of the best standard stouts available year-round.

I also agree. I love their regular line up. They are probably the brewery I want to come to Massachusetts the most.

Happy to have them here in PA. Black Butte and Obsidian are outstanding representatives of their style.

Count me in as a fan of Deschutes. Very glad they've been selling their beers in PA for the past couple years. And then there's The Abyss, remains one of my all time favorites (just need more of it in PA).

Their River Ale is a seriously underrated blonde.

    Deschutes is fuckin cool.

They did a "Street Pub" event in Sacramento 2 months ago in November. Great people, great event. Raised some big $$ for a couple of non-profits. AND of course, some good beer.

I might have to go out and pick up some Fresh Squeezed IPA today.

They are one of the most consistently outstanding breweries. Black Butte is a nearly perfect porter, and Fresh Squeezed is my favorite readily available, affordable IPAs. Not sure why they aren't regarded as 1 of the best breweries in the world.

For me, Deschutes is a good example of one of those breweries that can get lost in the "next best thing" shuffle. It's easy to forget that the products they make are a step or two ahead of a lot of newcomers when it comes to consistency of quality. I'll be in PDX starting Wednesday until next Monday and I'll certainly be having a few at the pub downtown!

Damn dude. That sucks. I'll just reiterate what everybody else said. Obsidian, Black Butte and Fresh Squeezed are fantastic beers.

So how are you employed by the brewery

I completely agree with all of your over the top Deschuttes-worshipping. I love the brewery too and really have never been let down with a single one of their beers. Just had a 2015 Abyss recently and still find this to be one of the top stouts out there. Love the whole lineup.

Love their beers, my only problem is the "best after" dates on many of their beers. I wish they would just hold onto them until they're ready.

Love Fresh Squeezed especially on tap, Deschutes also did a Street Pub in down town Minneapolis last fall , good time cool brewery. I will say i dont buy much of the core shelf beer , might have to revisit some of them.
