I couldn't find anywhere with this sort of information, but I'm going to be in LA and San Francisco in late December/early January. Will there still be any Abyss hanging around in bottle shops? How limited is it? (I am trying to figure out now whether I should trade for some when it comes out or wait until my trip.)

    Thanks!

In LA, it has been somewhat hard to find in the past. This year there is still a ton of BB XIV on the shelf, so I am hoping more Abyss might be also in the cards this year.

Would be nice if that's true, and I hope it will be. We can hope so, though Black Butte being their base flagship beer, and BB XXIV being the anniversary of the beer, and by extenstion the Deschutes brewery, they made a lot of it. I use this thread as a bit of a guide to my thinking.

    To Paraphrase, "Black Butte XXIV
WHERE: Limited availability in all 19 states where Deschutes is sold"

"The Dissident - Very limited available in most states where Deschutes is sold"

Abyss isn't mentiond in that quoted email the brothers posted and it's months old, but would be great if it's as easy to find now as BBXXIV, but more likely it will be more like The Dissident, or somewhere in between the two.

Even then, I didn't really have much of a problem landing two bottles of Dissident which I thought was shocking. Stearns Liquor had posted they received a case sometime in the afternoon, and I went in at 10:30 at night, and there were still several bottles on the shelf. Weird.

The release party is November 15th at their pubs in Bend and Portland so don't count on seeing it anywhere else before then. I don't know how fast it makes it to northern California but it usually takes about 2 weeks to get to SD and I would guess similarly for the rest of SoCal

Yeah...I went in the next night after Danny posted that and scored 2 bottles. There was 1 left (at least on the shelf).
