I don't know if they have begun distributing up there yet or not but Westbrook Gose is a good option for trading.

As a recent transplant to NY, LHV to be exact, I found it hard to find some well sought after beers. After some time I used seekabrew and just found some good stuff that was not nationally distributed and put up posts about it and found some folks that would give up their great local stuff for mine. I suggest six point when fresh, jacks Abby distributes here, Captain Lawrence is pretty much just NY. Some shelf stuff in NY isn't available anywhere else. Don't expect crazy limited stuff for it, and you may have to send a higher qty, but I've gotten Pte for Six point.

If you can get to your local shop when a limited release gets out also very helpful, but don't rely on it. Also ask if they can get stuff like Westbrook, I begged my shop to get the Gose, I bought a case and the other 6 cases sold out that week, it helps both of you to get great beer that sells.

    Hope I helped

I have a couple of regular trade partners in New York City. In terms of locals I'm always happy to receive stuff like fresh Maine, the hoppy Sixpoints that don't get distributed over here, Captain Lawrence, Peekskill.

Failing that do what they all do and drive up to Vermont or Maine when Allagash have the Coolship beers on sale.

A nice way to start building a cellar is to join a Noobs BIF. Most BAs are very generous (as we all should be), and most Noobs BIFs center around locals, and typically, folks throw a couple better bottles in as well. My first BIF was in October of last year, and I'm just now finishing all the stuff I got from it.

There are a few local breweries to you that don't bottle, I believe. New York has great growler laws, and a lot of the country doesn't, making growlers of great local beers tradeable. Always attractive to offer growlers of locals for the same. I would go after Boneyard, which is easy to get in growlers for locals in Oregon, and is better beer than almost any other brewery.

Would post this in Mid Atlantic also, and identify your area in the Subject

Ghandi is trade worthy, you get Bcbs, you get Firestone Walker not distro everywhere, your a reasonable drive from Vt. You have options galore.

I was about to post the same thing.

Not only that, he can drive to Ithaca for brewery only releases, to CL, to new Schmaltz brewery, to treehouse in Ma.

He's got a lot more options than most in the country, but has to make the effort

Surprised no one has tossed out Middle Ages as a target as well. I know they put out some stuff that's fairly middle of the road, but they have some good stuff as well. Haven't been in a couple years as I don't get to Syracuse as often as I used to, but I remember it being solid beer.

All great advice..thanks guys. Ive spoken to my local shop about westbrook and the NY distributor does not come our way....ive emailed him myself. I love middle ages but get laughed at when i offer it so i just use them as extras. I plan on making a vermont trip this summer in search of some heady and as for ithaca....i can get some of their excelsior brews and ill gladly drive down for more limited releases. Like i said im new to this and got into trading early may so i missed the luminous release

also is heady readily available in Vermont? Or is it still limited there as well? Id hate to randomly plan the trip and have the area dry of heady
