The Fraise and Belgian imperial stout are two of my favorites. I hope they'll bottle more of the special stuff I've tried from them on tap.

Their sours are on point and I can tell that's where their passion truly lies. I don't dig their other styles. They seem phoned in and made simply to appease customers who don't drink sours. Their hoppy beers are waaaaay too malty. I was there a few days ago and I've never been impressed with a hoppy beer they've made. They seem stuck on hoppy recipes from 10 years ago. A dank pale ale/IPA that is easy on the malt and made with a new hop variety would draw me in there every weekend.

The Beer Store in Malvern had all of them a couple months ago. I picked up the oude brun and the strawberry sour and they were great. I believe this is their first release, so we will have to see if they come back.

Thanks for the support and valuable feedback. We have recently tweaked the recipes on both Hoperation Overload and Vertex IPA to reduce the malt bill. Try some fresh cans next time you see 'em and let us know what you think! Cheers!

I stumbled upon them in New Orleans. The strawberry was great!

My bad. Not seen them, but from what has been posted here, I think I'll keep an eye out the next time I'm in a Binny's in Chicago.

We get the Dekkera sours in Texas now, but I can't stomach the $21 for 500mL. Are these prices close to what you see in Chicago or are Texas distributors just killing us as per usual? Would love to give them a try at some point.

I think it is around $18 here. My experience with the Saint Dekkera series is that they are pretty good and worth sampling but I can't justify $18 bucks for a bottle for myself. They feel experimental and not really dialed in yet. I recently tried the pear release (can't remember the name), and found it to be a little sweet for my tastes, almost like it was under attenuated or experienced a stuck fermentation. I will say that I am a fan of Here Gose Nothing cans.

Destihl deserves huge props for finding their niche and expanding. So interesting to me to think that this restaurant/brewery tucked away in an awkward location behind a mall in Bloomington (or Normal?) is distributing across the country now. I first tried their beers when I was in school around 2011 and I would not have bet on them developing much interest outside of central IL. I agree with the other poster who said that their regular beers are pretty phoned in.

I agree with you, personally I'm an ISU alum too, so I had plenty of experience with Destihl before they started distro and I def agree a lot of their offerings can still use some fine tuning, but they definitely know what they're good at. Their brewing/bottling/warehouse facility is out on General Electric road in Bloomington, never had a chance to visit, but their brew pub is solid. To second your comment, their Dekkera series sits on shelves at $17.99/ea around here. Kind of hard to pull the trigger for a pint. Recently sampled this:

Good to know. I'll pick them up again soon. I'd love to see your mango IPA in cans. I've enjoyed that one several times at your Normal brew pub.

They also have a restaurant and brewpub in downtown Champaign now. There trying to take over central Illinois college towns, good for them

That would be the distributors. We really don't want to see Saint Dekkera above $18 a bottle. Ideally, we'd prefer it to be at the $1/oz price point, so $17.

We are working on testing the stability of Amra Mango IPA in cans! So you may see it next year!

Been getting Destihl here in AZ for a bit now and I love their beers. The canned Wild Sour series are amazing but the Saint Dekkera really goes above and beyond. I can honestly say so far I have not had a bad beer from them. Price point for SD here is around $17.99 a bottle but for the quality I always indulge to try whatever they put out in the series. The Wild Sours can be regularly found in my fridge as they are great summer thirst quenchers. Cheers Destihl for a great product!

I admit to being local, but find Hoperation Overload to be vastly underrated. It's a good solid 4 across the board for me. The BA 84 score does not reflect it's quality, at least for me. It's not remarkable, but if you walked into Binny's I'd say it's better than 80% of their year-round IPA's.
