We're vacationing next week in Destin and wanted to try some local beers. I like darker stuff with my favorite being a quad. I enjoy barrel aged and barleywines. Not a fan of IPA's and other bitter beers. Any recommendations? Where might be a good place to acquire some of these? A brewery/restaurant we shouldn't miss? Needs to be kid friendly! Thanks!!
Local Brewery options in Destin Area are.. Props(In Fort Walton Beach) Destin Brewery McGuires Grayton Beer Company Idyll Hounds For the type beers you like Idyll Hounds will be your best local option...depending what part of Destin your staying in though Idyll Hounds can be a trek as it's located in Walton County about halfway to Panama City Beach Though McGuires beer is just ok it's a must stop for the food and fun IMO..18 Cent Bean Soup..Reuben Egg Rolls..Burgers..Steakes..etc...I will warn you don't over order as they have massive portions..kids will love it as well

For bottle shop there is a wine shop (Wine World or Chan's - I can't remember) near the Publix on 98 that has a pretty good selection of Florida and Alabama beers.

I was on the website of Idyll Hounds and Craft Bar today, among others! I am hoping I can visit a few of these places!
If you need beer to take back to the Rental 3 Good Bottle Shops in Destin..Beach liquors which has a Growler Station as well..Chans Wine World and a massive new ABC that has a huge selection..The Panhandle where Destin is located also gets Alabama and Louisiana Distro the rest of Florida does not due to all The Tourists from those 2 states that vacation in the area..be on the lookout for Parish Brews from Louisiana..though not my favorite many like Good People and Straight to Ale Beers from Alabama..Enjoy
A couple of other options are World of Beer in the Destin Commons and The Boardroom Pub and Grub in Ft. Walton Beach. Both places post their draft/can/bottle list online. If you end up venturing out to Seaside/30a, there's a Craft Bar out there as well and a little deli called Modica Market that offers beer.
