My wife is going to a concert in two weeks in downtown Detroit. She said she will stop at a beer store and get me some good Michigan beers. Just don't want it to far out of the way.

Unfortunately, the downtown area doesn't really have any good bottle stores, though that should change in the near future, as a Suburban store called '8 Degrees Plato' is opening another store in midtown very soon, not sure if it will be in time for you wife's concert though. Best bet right now is would probably the the Whole Foods in midtown. Their selection isn't phenomenal and they won't have anything rare, but they carry a decent amount of craft and would have some stuff like Shorts that doesn't distribute out of MI. Other than that it's heading out to the suburbs for your booze, like I do...

Anything that is a quick stop off the highway. She is coming from Ohio.

Michigan distribution is quite lame as compared to Ohio. If you go to seekabrew.com you can compare the two states and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Other than those listed, there are two breweries I know of, that also distribute to MI (that I don't think distribute to Ohio). Those two are Griffin Claw and Blackrocks Brewery.

You should be able to find the beers by these breweries and the ones listed on seekabrew at most decent stores in MI. Don't go far out of your way, because there isn't anything super limited you'll be missing you can't get in Ohio.

The latest releases are Shorts Dan's Pick Skirt, Shorts Freedom of 78', Oddside El Dankerino, and Blackrock (since it just came to MI). Other notable stuff could be Griffin Claw Norm's Raggedy Ass IPA, Dragonmead Final Absolution, various Greenbush or Vivant beers. You can't get Kuhnhenn unless you visit the brewery and buy a growler.

Steve's party store is a minute off 75, just north of downtown on Caniff. Not as large a selection as a bottle shop, but all the top Michigan beers in stock, great prices, you won't be gouged for limited releases
