Well, a beer called Stroh's, anyway. At 5.5 ABV and 33 IBU's, it is "Not Your Father's Stroh's " (maybe your great-grandfather's?). No mention of open-flame "Fire Brewing", either. Though the Stroh Brewing Co. didn't go out of business until 1999, they closed their Detroit brewery over 30 years ago, after buying Schlitz and soon finding themselves with excess capacity in the mid-West.

Apparently another Pabst revival/reformulation (unless they let another brand in their multi-label portfolio go?), this one brewed at the Atwater + Big Boy Restaurant-associated Brew Detroit LLC. Pabst has been expanding its list of contract brewers lately, using City La Crosse and Third Street/Cold Spring for various other revived brands, rather than MillerCoors (with whom, coincidentally, they are having some disagreements over the future of their contract).

The deposit info on the back label suggests it might be a Michigan-only release, since the other states w/deposits aren't listed, but, of course, that means other neighboring states without the nickel deposit could see it, too.

    Ahhh the 80's
I do like that label, always have been partial to lions, and the ibu and abv numbers also look exciting.

Drank a lot of Strohs way back when... Still remember the "Stroh's House" at the 1982 Worlds Fair in Knoxville TN, which we visited a number of times living only an hour or so away.

You purchased a bottle or can of the readily available 4.6% lager:

The articles referenced above point to a reproduction of an old Stoh's recipe with a slightly higher ABV (5.5%):

Thanks, I thought that, but couldn't really confirm that from the article.

One thing that late 1800s brewers of Bohemian style lager beers weren't likely to be worried about was producing a too-pale beer. Using a malt kilned to suit a Vienna lager beer wouldn't make much sense. Using a darker malt nowadays to suit the tastes of drinkers used to caramel malt darkened beers makes alot of sense however.

@JackHorzempa wrote (in a recently-posted locked thread on the same topic):

I liked the line in that same article:
Now, let's see - Deuhs worked for Stroh in St. Paul and then, in 1997 a couple of years after they bought Heileman, transferred to La Crosse, according to his resume on Linkedin. I imagine Stroh converted St. Paul to "fire-brewing" (since they had closed Detroit) but it's unlikely they did the same for La Crosse.

(Remember that their flagship beer, Stroh's, went into freefall in the 1980s and 1990s - dropping below 1m bbl/yr by Deuhs' period with the company, after being well above 5m bbl. when they took over Schlitz in the early 80s. By the end, their economy brands like Old Milwaukee and Schaefer were outselling their own flagship.)

And then he was hired by Pabst in 2014 - at which point he again was responsible for Stroh's (which reportedly is simply a blend of other MC-brewed Pabst beers- and so not the same recipe as used by Stroh). So, while he first brewed Stroh's in 1994, "since" might be the wrong word there, given that most of the time - 15 out of 22 years - he did not work for breweries or other companies involved with the Stroh brand.

    Where in MI?

I just picked some up at a Kroger in Troy. 8 Degrees Plato (Detroit location) got a shipment in last week, too. I've also heard that some Meijer's will or already do have it in stock.
