I heard over the weekend that Oskar Blues is going to discontinue Deviant Dale's and is going to replace with it a standard IPA. Supposedly this info came from a sales rep. Has anyone else heard this? My source on this has always been spot-on with his info in the past, but it just doesn't really make sense to me.

I'm a big fan of DD and will be sad to see it go if this is true........

I heard about the standard IPA, but I thought it was an addition to their lineup, not a replacement

I have not seen DD roll through my distro in a long time. Both package and draft seem to be amiss.

No idea if they are indeed discontinuing it but I would love to see it moved to a seasonal. As a year round beer, I cannot for the life of me find it with less than 4-5 months age on it, even at places that are pretty good about rotating stock.

In light of their new IPA rolling out, it would make sense if they retooled it as a DIPA and perhaps bumped it up a bit from 8%. Maybe get on board with the new darling hop and dash it with some Mosaic?

I would be fine with that too. I just would hate for it to disappear altogether.

We have the same problem around here with old cans staying on the shelves for months. I do buy it anytime I find fresh cans though.

That would be what all the kids are doing (which is bad for me as I'm not a fan of Mosaic, I know, I know, hate on). I always looked for DD, but I admit not as a first choice but always a solid beer for me.

I've always really really liked DD. The main problem is I can only find it old and it's pretty over priced considering.

It really is a damn shame...I love OB stuff but can also rarely find it fresh out here in CA. I'd have bought so much more of it over the years if I could.

I'd get Dales if it wasn't so outdated at every store I go to. It's a pain. I hope one more fresh batch comes out before they fold the distro (if this is true). I've only had it fresh once.

OB just posted on fb that Devient Dale's is moving to a fall seasonal in 12oz cans. If this means fresh DD when in season I'm stoked!

Now just make Death by Coconut the fourth seasonal and we're all set :sunglasses:
