Wanted to start a new thread since the old one with the wrong name got deleted. Figured it would be nice to discuss opinions of current offerings, the drinking club they started, etc.

For anyone who doesn't know, Deviate was rated one of the top 33 new breweries in the U.S. for 2015 in a recent issue of the magazine, and they deserve it. They started a drinking club this month (limited to 100 memberships at the moment), which entitles you to what equates to a weekly 32oz growler fill of anything on their board, at very reasonable prices. Currently growlers are limited to Hop Supremacy with all other items being available for tasting room consumption only if not in the club. Further, they've said barrel aged offerings will start dropping soon and will be first available to drinking club members, with growler fills available for those items as well.

On the whole, these guys are knocking it out of the park. Ridiculous quality across the board. They post their updated taplist on their twitter feed regularly. This weekend they put on a new cherry and chocolate RIS, which replaced Tikimochanut. I'm dying to get over there to try it. Wife and I have been going at least once per week; their consistent high quality and frequent turnover to new beers makes going here over pretty much every other Indy area place a no brainer imo. All said, if you haven't been, get there soon as you've been missing out...

The last time I was down in Indy I decided to check them out. Absolutely impressed with what they were cranking out. I hit up probably five different places last time I was in town and they stood out head and shoulders above the others.

If I were local I would join their club, but sadly at 2.5 hours away that isn't a possibility. I will be back in town this weekend though and look forward to going back.

I'm in the club and as I live in Zionsville, they are my local brewery. If you live in Indy or are visiting, I can't recommend strongly enough that you stop by. Greg and Mike are really good guys and the beer is legit, especially the stouts. Last time I talked to Greg, they had some BA stuff that sounded like it was about ready for release.

I'll have to try to track you down there sometime @mayorQuimby. I try to get there about once a week as well.

I was finally able to get in there on friday and join the club. Hopefully being in the club provides more motivation for me to get in there regularly. I feel like Deviate and Black Acre are putting out the best beer in the city and I'm really happy Deviate is only like 5-10 minutes from my house. I grabbed a growler of the Bad Ground Hum on friday and I'll probably get that chocolate cherry stout this weekend. Love having access to everything on the board and mostly just love being able to support something local that I really believe in. They're great. I particularly like that the growler fills are 32oz.

Agree w/everything you guys said. They just seem like legit, quality guys, and they're working their asses off and churning out excellent beer. I had a pour of Bad Ground Hum last week and it was fantastic, every bit as good, at least, as any other grapefruit IPA I've had. Across the board; the quality of their brews, pricing, service, etc., totally thrilled this place is in town AND close to where I live. It's also close to Tamaleria Lupitas; the combo makes for an outrageous (and cheap) date night with your significant other.

I love that you can bring food in to Deviate....I've been known to eat Leonardos burritos in there from time to time. Delicious combination.

I've been drinking their beers for years when they called themselves Balls brewing. Great guys that epitomize the spirit of great beer. Indy is an odd town in terms of our beer scene. We have a large number of breweries that are putting out ho-hum beer. Neither offensive or or noteworthy. It is awesome to see a place break the pub beer mold and kill it with quality out of the gate. My only complaint has nothing to do with them, but if I could throat punch the person responsible for that light/corner, I would.

I went up there after the Indiana City Crushin Roulette release and they asked me to join the Club but since I'm in Bloomington I just couldn't see it as a good investment yet I didn't ask how much it was either. Could be a dumbass long term decision on my part. I love their dark beers and I'm really not a fan of the Hop Extremacy/Supremacy but that Bad Ground Hum was amazeballs.

Question for the people that regularly go there, what is a good time of the day to check this place out. Does this place get packed? I am looking to go when not so crowded if that is possible.

I will be in the Indianapolis area towards the end of April (Friday-Sunday) and had this place on my radar even before this tread started.

I'd say earlier is better. I've been there around noon or 1 on a sunday and there wasn't a lot of traffic. They always seem to be busy in the evenings.

The drinking club is $100 for the year. For the price, you receive the stainless steel 32oz logo growler they are selling for $30. The remainder of the fee is payment which entitles you to the pro-rated weekly growler fill of anything on the board (which you do still pay for). Further, as I noted before, they will soon be doing BA releases. They told me the release of those items would be something like this: the BA item is tapped and for the first ~week, will only be available (for pints and 32 oz growler fills) to Drinking Club members. Once the allotted time period expires, the beer will be available to the general public for taproom only consumption, if any remains.

As of last Thursday, they had ~15 memberships still available, based on what they had posted on their board. If you like them a lot, it's a no brainer. You're basically paying about $1.40 surcharge per growler so that you actually have that option. We go there all the time, so if it's really crowded, which is happening frequently now, we just get a quick pour, fill the growler and head home to relax in comfort.

Second what @myersk27 said. Lately weekend evenings have been pretty hectic. A couple Fridays ago, it was absolutely packed when we got there around 8pm. Ended up just filling a growler and leaving...Weekday evenings are generally fine. Last time I went on a Saturday earlier (around 5pm about a month ago) we got a seat but it was getting really busy already. I'd say, you won't encounter miserable mosh pit type conditions, but if you can't get a seat, the place is so small, you'll struggle to find a spot to chill. Close to opening up to mid-afternoon should be good any weekend day.

A little surprised they lasted as long as they did. I have a funny feeling people who sat this out are going to be kicking themselves over the next year or so...

I'm glad I got in. I'm hoping that buying the membership will cause me to make it there more often since I've paid for it. Already trying to figure out when I can get there this week for my fill.

Deviate makes great delicious interesting beers. If you are a beer geek this is the place you must go and enjoy what is being made by two very talented Brewers. My wife even loves this place and my son too, but I'm always paying and his favorite beer is free beer! Every time I have been there I have not been disappointed. Will be there again this weekend. Cheers!

Was in there last night for a growler fill of Bad Ground Hum. Dark Matter is awesome, and I really don't beers with cherry. Can't wait for the triple IPA they posted about today.

Tried a sample from Greg. Its everything you are hoping for. Tons of orange juice. Booze is hardly noticeable (which is saying something at 12%)
