I am there now and it is still the best beer in Indy.

Just got an e-mail about the Dead Head Chemistry Release.

Has anyone had this on Tap? Someone mentioned that members had a chance to try this ahead of time, but I have not. Nothing posted that I could find on the BA page either.

 

Yep, just ad hoc small pours. With that said, you will NOT be disappointed. I'm positively giddy about this release.

 

It's an incredible beer.

 

I'm pretty excited for the choc peanut butter porter this week....definitely will bring a growler of that to DLD this weekend.

 

The new Mintal Telepathy is very good, balanced beer. One of the best mint stouts I've had. I had suggested the name Get the Sensation, but I think anyone under 35 wouldn't get the reference, and it's not peppermint. Simulated passion (DIPA with passion fruit) is also very good.

Anyone open their Dead Head's yet?

 

Not yet. Been sitting in the beer fridge since I picked it up. Soon. Wife does not like bitter beers so (since it is a coffee beer and I am expecting it to be a bit more bitter than she would like???) I am saving it for a night that I can drink it on my own if she's not down for it.

 

Dead Head is boozy....the nose is pretty awesome. Lots of coffee there. I feel like it needs some time for some of the heat and sweetness to drop off a tad, but then you might lose that coffee. I ended up buying 3 bottles and am sending one to a buddy in Chicago.

 

I was there last night when they sold their last one. I have on for now and one to age. Will let you know my thoughts once I crack it.

 

Damn, they actually had some to sell? Wish I had known - I would have happily went in and bought one for my friend who kills for coffee stouts . I didn't even check since they had posted on Twitter that it was "highly unlikely" they would have any to sell, let alone nearly 7 days after the last pickup date.

 

they had 250-ish bottles....when i went in on wednesday last week it looked like maybe 75% of members picked up bottles. public sale started saturday so they likely had 100 or so bottles left at that point.

 

Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn. Going to be on this next time. If anyone has an extra that they'd trade, let me know. Would love to get a bottle for a friend.

(I don't live in Indy, so 'popping in' isn't easy for me. If it was, I probably would have known. Wife and I have been really working on the house too, so haven't been in during the past couple weeks since I picked up my bottle.)

 

I snagged my second bottle Friday night. They were letting club members buy an extra one before they opened to the public. Saved me a Saturday trip across town

 

I think their lack of lines for big releases in insane. If they keep up the quality I'm sure in a year or two they will have big lines for every release.

 

If you haven't been to Deviate in a while, their beers on tap right now are amazing. They added "Waffle Horse" yesterday that tastes like your drinking a Belgian Waffle covered with Maple Syrup. And their Vanilla Russian Imperial Stout or Mintal Buzz are right up there too.
