I will second the Waffle Horse love! I also walked in last night as they were putting stickers on Strange Device. I got the first one, I feel special.....

    Picked up my bottle.

Got a sample of Waffle Horse while I was there. Two things:
    1. I don't get much maple. That said, maybe it's my bitter sensitivity. It wasn't as bitter as a RIS should be, but I wanted more maple flavor. Was a bit disappointed on that. That said, it was surprisingly drinkable, although I still don't think I'd want more than about 12 ounces due to the lack of sweetness/flavor of the maple that was not as present as I would have liked.
    2. Wish they would add 2 ipads for payment. I'm not a fan of waiting 15 minutes when there are only like 4 people in front of me primarily because they only have 1 way to check people out and it is slow.
    Their stuff is surprisingly good.

Love the idea behind Waffle Horse and many of their beers, in general. It's obviously their mission to "deviate" from the norm and produce interesting and thought provoking beer that tend to be very flavorful. It is an interesting risk to take because, on one hand, when you make a great beer it is usually a home run. But, when you take those risks and they don't quite hit the mark, the beers can be pretty bad. Love the creativity and willingness to be different and I will always give their beers a try, but if I want consistently solid beer that is a little more technically sound from a brewing process standpoint, then I go to Daredevil. Good to see options in Indy though!

I can see this point, but I will counter. I have been going 2-3 times a month since they opened their doors. Not once has there not been atleast 4-5 beers on tap that where great. There is always a Supremacy on tap, which I will always drink over a Daredevil. They have swung on and missed on some of their beers, but not very often. More times than not it is the style I am not a fan of, not the product they are serving.

I have also sampled some of their misses that didn't make it to tap and were dumped. They aren't in business to put out an inferior product.

For the record, if you like IPA's even a little bit you need to get there now for the Opulancy currently on tap. Fantastic triple.

Anti-Clarity replaced Tiki late last night. Had it on draft and it really might be the best stout they've made. it's awesome. Only one keg so get on it if you want to try it before cracking a bottle.

Won't be around to do so. Damn! Too bad. Glad to hear it so good though.

For those that like milkshake IPAs, Deviate did have Bumping Fuzzies (apricot) and Cupping Berries (blueberry) a couple of weeks ago. They are now gone, but something to keep an eye out for another version. This last batch of Supremacy lupulin powder was used. According to Greg, it makes it "more gooder."

Did you grab your two bottles of anti clarity? I did! Wished they would have tapped the keg yesterday though so I could have tried.

Yea I did. I have not opened the BBA BW yet. How was that? I am not into most BW, so I have been a little nervous. Don't like Hops in my BWs.

Really dug the Color Blind (white stout) that went on the other day. Reminded me of a non-nitro version of Noble's Naughty Sauce. To be clear, I am not talking about Noble Order in Zionsville.

The peanut butter cream ale was quite interesting. Hop Crushable lives up to its name too.

This tweet today from Deviate has me excited, looks like a quadruple IPA made in collaboration with Black Acre. Cool to see these guys working together, two terrific breweries.

I am so not an IPA guy - can someone *quickly* explain roughly the differences between IPA vs DIPA vs TIPA vs QIPA (first time hearing this)? I am genuinely curious.

really cool to them doing something together....i just have zero interest in a quadruple IPA. I'll still probably buy it.

    it all relates to the ABV I think. IPA=5.5%-7.9%, DIPA= 8%-11%, Triple 11%-13%, quad=14%

all of those numbers are definitely not exact and someone with more experience absolutely should weigh in here. I do have a lot of IPA drinking experience and find that for me they are best in the 7%-8% range. I'm not a fan of big boozy IPA's which is what you get when you reach triple/quad status.

I think the difference between triple and quadruple is pretty subjective. 120 Minute and Devil Dancer are both considered triples, but they clock in at around 18% and 12%, respectively. I think certain batches of 120 have even been over 20%. But I don't think there is a specific range to which constitutes which. And, probably more technically, all are considered imperial. I think triple or quad are more marketing terms. But what do I know.

Can anyone comment on when the food trucks arrive, and what the offerings usually are on Friday? I have the potential to be around tomorrow, and I'm trying to plan everything out tonight.
