Food trucks are hit and miss. Typically are announced on Deviate's twitter account when they are coming and who they will be. I don't think they have had one for a few weeks. If they do come typically 5-8 PM. You can always BYOF, as there are numerous restaurants around, or call for delivery when you are there.

In the day late, dollar short category, Deviate put a sixtel of Lunacy on yesterday. It blew in 2 1/2 hours. I arrived to watch the remnants be taken away, and just miss out. Anyone get it?

Well...I thoroughly enjoyed my bottle of Lunacy.

Re: the food truck(s), you can bank on there not being one. It has been a couple months...just bring from somewhere else.

    Thanks guys.

I am actually heading downtown for the Trombone Shorty event, and I was looking for some food en route. Thought this might be a good option. Guess not!

Thoughts on the lunacy? Can you elaborate a bit on what type of IPA it is? (And please don't say QIPA  )

Haha, well think of a really good triple IPA you've had, perhaps. Extremely sweet and boozy, but still packing a lot of good hoppy/fruity punch because of how fresh it is.

I learned that Lunacy has several additions of El dorado and Mandarina hops. As of Thursday there will still bottles left for purchase.
There will also be a tapping at Black Acre on Nov 7.

The Lunacy is great. I had it on tap the day they had it and will be bringing my bottle to a share later today. No clue how they do it, but they managed to make an 18.4% NOT taste boozy. Definitely has a punch, but goes down very smooth.

Cool, yeah, thanks will check Deviate brewing twitter too. It was a very deep and rich stout, very viscous, and full of roast that I thought was exceptional. Pretty sure it was in a 500 ml bottle.

I ask not only out of curiosity to find out more about a brewery I tried and really liked, or just to give a well deserved shout out to them, but because if they regularly bottle stouts of that quality I would start to look for a way to get a hold of them . From what I read in this thread they do get a lot of love.

I believe they have only bottled two stouts: 1) Anti-Clarity, an RIS with coffee and vanilla, and 2) Dead Head Chemistry, a bourbon-barrel aged RIS with coffee. Both were excellent. Every bottling they've done has been 22 oz. bottles.

They do not distribute. Generally their beers are taproom consumption only with growlers to-go. My guess is that in their existence, < 10 kegs have hit Indy area bars. So it has happened, but basically doesn't...

Re: bottling, very rarely and semi-difficult to obtain. My guess is they've only bottled 7-8 things so far (once every 2-3 months it seems lately). Bottling runs are typically barrel aged (Anti-clarity may be the only non-barrel aged offering to be bottled, IIRC). They are first offered to Deviate club members, usually 1 bottle per; number of club members is somewhere in the 125-150 people range, I believe. Unclaimed bottles go to public sale at the brewery, some last a day, some a week or two, just depends.

Yes they bottled that but it was a straight BBA RIS. Dead head was the Coffee.

They had some time before I managed to get my membership an Apple Brandy BA stout I think also. That was before they made actual labels I believe.

@cavedave if you are looking for their stuff going forward (nothing from the past) give me a shout.

Correct, forgot about that one. Good but not at the same level as the other two I mentioned in my last post, imo.

Their first true bottle release was the brandy BA Monkey Business and brandy BA Strudel Cake. I have no recollection of any brandy stout that was released in bottles to members. There were a couple beers that they bottled early on, such as Liquid Grace, that were extremely small runs that never went on sale.

Thanks guys for all the help, sounds like y'all are pretty lucky to have a brewery like Deviate, and I hope to be lucky enough to try them again. Will be keeping an eye here and on other social media for what's up with these folks. Cheers!

Ticks and Peaches (BBA tripel with peaches) was just released to club members this week.

Liquid Grace was the first beer that was bottled (last January), followed by BA Monkey Business and brandy BA Strudel Cake.

Yes - Brandy was what I meant, not Apple Brandy. My apologies to both of you.

I was a bit dissapointed that I had missed out on the Brandy BA streudal cake. That sounded very good.

I wasn't crazy about their quadruple ipa collab with Black Acre. First beer in awhile they let me down. But I've been in love with their Sucking Straws milkshake ipa and Kopi coffee porter these last few weeks. I'll probably grab my 1 bottle of Ticks And Peaches on Friday.

Several new beers out this week: passion fruit milkshake IPA, and hatch chili stout.

Upcoming beers (not currently available) will include different versions of a mushroom beer (can't remember if base beer is brown or stout) with chantrells. Some will have peppercorns added, or hatch chilis Also triple with blueberries, and an imperial stout with blackberries.
