FYI, this years batch of Devil Dancer is now on tap in Founders' Tap Room. According to their Facebook post, this years batch features Zythos and Bravo hops.

    Cheers

Hope it's better than last year's batch. Sounds promising.

Yeah, caramelized onion beer was not my favorite either.

But damn, if a small pour wasn't the perfect topping on a grilled burger.

I am not overly sensitive to the onion and garlic flavors people were picking up last year but I really had trouble with the dirty resinous flavor. It was a little more abrasive than I would have liked to see, I hope the Bravo and Zythos smooth it out a little.

I just hope it tastes more like every other year they have made it. Last year's batch was super attenuated so to me it seemed like they changed the yeast to get a longer hoppy shelf life. I do not think a few different hop varieties would have impacted the flavor so negatively. I look forward to trying this year's batch!

No Summit hops? I hope not...

I liked 2010 DD, but 2011 was like chewing on a piece of garlic. Not my thing. I guess I'm ultra sensitive to that flavor though, I taste it in a lot of beers. But nothing like Devil Dancer...

Damn. I'm going there on Saturday and was hoping to try that rye barrel imperial stout they had last week.

Yeah, last year's batch was much too assertive. It was one of the more offensively hoppy beers I've had to date. Here's hoping for a bit more balance in this year's batch.

Just sampled it today at the brewery, I thought it was a little bit more on the 'more drinkable, in a scary way" type and really enjoyed it.
