anyone else tried this one yet?...its a new seasonal from Highland...very different than anything else I have had from them...its a red ipa with nutty malt and some funky earthy/onionish hop profile, sorta reminds me of a Devil Dancer Lite...nice to see highland step out of their comfort zone, new competition drives innovation

I'm really looking forward to trying this. It sounds delicious. I would also throw in, that I would guess expansion allows more innovation rather than new competition.

I dug it, probably the best seasonal from them with the exception of Cold Mountain.

Their more recent new seasonal (Little hump and Thunder struck) have been quite good so I'm looking forward to trying it in a bit.

Had one yesterday, nice bitter bite all the way through. Not too complex, but engaging enough to revisit. Keep em coming Oscar!

My buddy and I split one and we both found it absolutely undrinkable. Drain poured it.

I couldnt stand Little Hump (found it to be forgettable and bland). Now thunderstruck, that shit was liquid gold.

Curious to see how this one is, but I wish Highland would bottle more of their interesting stuff. They bring some awesome one-offs to beer festivals like sours, Belgian IPAs, Brett beers, and bbal-aged beers, yet all of their bottled beers are pretty lacking (minus Tasgall). Still, people gobble up all of their staples and seasonals, so I guess there's not much motivation to bottle an expensive beer to make when they can brew bland batches of Cold Mountain and have them sell out everywhere within a day.

I picked up a single tonight from Whole Foods while picking up some groceries. It was good, not great. Certainly not a drain pour and certainly not the best IPA in the state. I wouldn't hesitate to grab a 6 pack next time I see it but I probably wouldn't buy more than that.

I have one in my glass right now. I think it needs more of something. It was very balanced with a hint of floral hops. I wanted a serious malt backbone, or just in the face hops. But who am I kidding, this is an NC IPA.

Please, NC brewers make something else on the level of NoDa Hop, Drop, n Roll.
