Hello Peninsula BA's, I'd appreciate any insights. I'm planning a happy hour for a client of mine in Palo Alto while simultaneously trying to knock all the Bay Area breweries off my to-do list. I haven't been to either: which one would be better for a relatively casual business outing (10 or so people)? Thanks!
Devil's Canyon has more space, but Freewheel has better everything else, including a kitchen that puts out good food. The Mexican restaurant next to Freewheel is also good. It could be a little difficult to get a table for 10 on Friday or Saturday night at Freewheel, but otherwise you should be good. They also have outdoor seating that's normally available. I'm not sure if Devil's Canyon is open the public aside from Friday afternoon/evening. That was the case at the old location, not sure if they've expanded hours since moving. But the beer is pretty mediocre.
Devil's Canyon isn't open on Thursdays. Freewheel has tasty English style cask beer, not for everyone but very good for what it is. It's a small space, so plan accordingly.
Devil's Canyon is open every Friday and has rotating food trucks. They have begun brewing in the new San Carlos location and the beer is the best its ever been. https://untappd.com/devilscanyonbrewery
