Real curious who they will get as a brewer. It's not quite as big a deal if they are only going to use 6-9 of the taps, but I hope they find someone good anyway.

I wonder how long it will take to clean all the brewing equipment. By the end at the laf almost everything was infected.

So awesome. The General is literally 3 minutes from my house. I wonder if the interior will get any kind of update. Hopefully they rip out that room that used to be the pool/dart room and create some more space. That place got made crowded, especially when they jammed a band into the corner just to the left of the entry way to the "game" room. Still...lots of space in that joint, and with two floors, etc, it's fascinating to think of the possibilities. I just hope to hell it's well run and has some longevity behind it.

Three minutes? How God damned fast do you drive?

Fast enough. lol 3 minutes is a stretch, I admit. Especially if you get jammed up at the light at Butler Pike. After that light though it's a breeze. No more than 7-8 minutes.

Aiming for a mid/late October opening, but before that, they'll be releasing some of the Barren Hill beers to taste at their sister bar Devil's Den next Tuesday (Oct. 8, just submitted it to the BA calendar).

I'm dying to know how hard it was to clean the brewing system. I loved gen laf and was so sad to see it go so south for them. Have been a fan of dd and oe, plus what scott did back in the day, so im siked about this.

Six beers were on tap last night at Devil's Den (and should be still on, I think):

Belgian IPA - Galaxy, German Pale Ale, Pilsner IPA, Double Berliner, Biere de Octobre, and Belgian Gold

Highlights for me were the Galaxy and Belgian Gold. The rest were certainly solid though.

I agree. They were all good to very good, although I know that the brewer felt that they needed some work. I was impressed. My favorites were the Belgian IPA and the Biere de Octobre, but I enjoyed all of them.

Three different official openings this Thursday Nov. 7th: both Barren Hill Brewpub and the redone Brittingham's in Lafayette Hill, and Cook and Shaker in the Kensington section of Philly (a much-needed short walk option from Memphis Taproom for that neighborhood).

Do you have any other info on Cook and Shaker? I haven't heard of it before your post.
