Anyone seen this around Boston on draft recently? Sunset Grill had it but just kicked last night as I ordered.
Last time I ordered Olde School at Sunset they brought me a 60 Minute, and then argued with me when I brought the error to their attention. This was a couple of years ago, so maybe they just found the keg they were supposed to be pouring back then.
I saw it first pop up on their 9/25 menu update, so I asked how long they'd had it on. The waitress told me she thought it'd been there for quite awhile, "maybe a couple of months." Right. As consolation, she brought out a flyer for their $60/plate Ancient Ales dinner pairing. After 3 straight drafts clearly below a full pour, another bittersweet visit to Sunset. Need to stop opting for a table instead of the bar. The saving grace was that the 3 drafts were Bitches Brew, 75 Minute cask, and Smuttynose Wine BA Scotch Ale, though the latter was a disappointment - tasted very flat.
i think it comes out a little earlier than November. I know I had it last year when we lost power during the October snow storm, which was on 10/29. Just don't recall how much earlier
Thanks for coming into to Sunset . Just to get you accurate info Olde School was tapped on Sept 23rd put on menu the 25th kicked saturday the 29th. Can get crazy, in the last 12 months we have had on 35 different dogfish head brews and sold over 15000 drafts. That's just one brewery. Today, October first is our 26 th birthday and we still are committed to the better beer scene as it continues to explode to heights that were unamaginable. If you sell as many beers as we do which keeps it fresh there can be a dissapoinment that we work hard to minimize. Thanks for the support . Marc @ Sunset Grill & Tap
Was on tap at Stoddard's tonight in Boston - $7 for 13 oz. Tasted pretty hot. I actually enjoyed the 120 min on tap quite a bit more - though that kicked while I was there.
I paid $16-17 for a four pack about a month ago in Wilmington, DE. Obviously it was last year's batch and they had just put it out. This bottle shop tends to be a buck or two high, so I would expect $15/4pk to be more common.
Not to be an a-hole, but why in the world would this post make anyone feel better about the long-reported quality control issues at Sunset, or make anyone want to go there after reading this? Not even a whiff of apology or offer to rectify the issue. On a side note - I have been to Sunset Grill many many times and spent lots of money there. The incredible inconsistency just makes it impossible for me to go ever again. Especially when you consider how many beer-centric establishments are even in that area, never mind Boston area. That said, I'm positive they are not hurting for customers (and never will).
