DFH Theobroma 2008

    Received a bottle of DFH Theobroma from a trader today. Bottle date is 2008 ABV is 9%

    Is this beer ruined from age? Thanks

    I have an old bottle of Theobroma too, but only from last year. I'm kind of afraid to open it...

    I had a bottle from 2009 that I opened this early spring and my wife, sister in law and 2 friends all agreed with me that it was better than when it is fresh. The coco tones even out and there is alot more balance across the palate and the spice is still there.

    I opened a three-year-old Theobroma in January, and the flavor had improved, but the appearance and body were in shambles. Really weird mouthfeel, and it almost looked separated. But the taste was really nice.

    Personally, I don't care for aged Theobroma, even for as little as one year. The punch of the spices faded big time, everything tasted quite muddled too. Perhaps more time they might come together but I've always been a fan of it fresh.

    I tried it and it tasted like straight cacao, it was really good actually. The bottle has stains inside like a coffee mug. I want to try a fresh bottle but I was pleased with this. Thanks for all the info
