As some of you may have already read, Craft & Growler will no longer be able to hold bottle shares for us. Restaurants have held some smaller shares for us in the past but if we'd like to continue the "quarterly" larger shares, we'll need to find a new spot or spots. These have averaged around 30 people in the past, so will require a large area.

My suggestions for questions to ask:

Do they require deposit? IMO we should avoid this because you never know who will show to these and someone could end up getting stuck with a bill.

Will there be an expectation on a minimum bill from our group? This is something we could work with maybe but we might want to avoid.

Can we do this on a Saturday afternoon? C&G was unable to do this for our large group, as are most places. If we did this during an odd time at a restaurant I think we could find a place. 1:30pm to 5ish might be doable.

There's probably a million things I haven't thought of, so please add on as we go. If you have friends in the restaurant industry reach out to them. We probably won't find another Craft & Growler that can routinely host us, so multiple locations would be great.

    Cheers,
    -Matt

Our you do it in some form of a BYOB trailer park - like some have been doing in Austin. No idea what your availability of those up in DFW are, but it seems the torchy's trailer park in Austin has had not said anything to them about doing them there.

We have one food trailer park in Dallas. They serve liquor there so it's a no go. Ft Worth has one or two and this could be an option for "those people"

Suck craft beer off of a stripper's belly (though I think that would be easier to do in Houston).

I'm not a real fan of being divorced. Every scenario I play out in my head involving BYOB and Strippers ends with me being divorced.

Does anyone still frequent the Addison Saucer? They allowed shares in 2011 and they had a nice sized room back then.

We can't do shares at the Saucer, In Houston anyway, for the time being. So not sure what the situation is like for DFW? Though in the past they have always taken good care of us when we did have shares. We have great shares at the Gingerman, definitely a place to ask. Joe was the manager in Houston for a long time, he is now in an upper management position in Dallas. If anyone runs into him or the actual bar managers, I am sure they will be glad to work something out. It has been so long since I was last in the Dallas/FW area, I don't really know what the beer bar seen has become, outside of a few places. Just my unwanted .02

I don't go there often, but I believe the Texas rule on BYOB is that you can't allow it if the establishment has a mixed drink license or private club license. I think the Saucer expanded into full bar service after they opened.

I don't think the Dallas saucer has a mixed drink license, so that could be a good idea yeah.

If only WBC wasn't so small :slight_frown:

Addison was the exception to this for quite awhile but I seem to remember someone telling me they went full bar.

WBC would be so perfect. Weren't they knocking down a wall at some point? Still probably too small to host though.

Lots of BYOB pizza places in Plano. We would likely have to agree to a certain amount of pizza bought though.

Also, is anyone close enough with any of the local brewers to ask if we can do it at their brewery? I have seen Karbach and Buffalo Bayou hosting shares, anyone got a good relationship and willing to ask if we can do it at Lakewood, Community, or Peticolas? I feel DEBC would shut us out based on some of the hate thrown towards them on here.

I'm not tight with them, but it'd go a long way for DEBC in terms of community relations/perception from members of this site at least if we could host even an annual one there. I don't know what DEBC did or why, and forgive me Matt as I have no intention of derailing or going off topic, but they hold a sweet property/location and it'd be awesome there.

Don't think it will be big enough to host, unless it is during non-business hours, which is hard to sell to a business. Drew is awesome though, so I will def be spending as much time there as I can.
