The Cape Mears light house is cool. Unfortunately, the road between Netarts/Oceanside and Cape Mears is closed due to the road being washed out. So what was a nice loop up and around Cape Mears state park now requires that you drive almost back to Tillamook before heading back to the coast, then up to the lighthouse. I guess it depends on whether you're hungry enough to head to Schooners. I've had mixed luck there - mainly due to the terrible kitchen management. If you're looking for a quick, decent meal, we normally just go to Pelican.

Have fun on HTC. Is it your first time? What leg? I'm also running it (leg 10). Unfortunately we're not scheduled to get into Seaside until 3:30'ish, so no way there's time to make it down to the DG party. I think we're going to crash on the floor somewhere in Seaside then head down to Tillamook Sunday morning.

Bummer. Sounds annoying to get to the lighthouse. Maybe we'll have time. Will be stopping by pelican forsure. Maybe that'll be easiest for food.

First time at H2C. We start around 2:30pm on Friday and should finish around 10:30 am on Saturday, but I didn't get tickets to the event so I'll have to hope for the best for bottles on Sunday. We have a huge beach house in Seaside. I am runner number 1 (I get the easy legs because I am the slowest on our team... we have a pretty stacked team though).

Shiiiii-ite. 20 hours!?!!? That means you're averaging nearly 6 min miles. That's not quite in competitive territory, but still pretty dang impressive. I'm slow and on a slow team. Start at 8:45 and plan to finish around 3:30. Our goal is to not finish last. Have fun with Leg #1. It's not easy. I haven't run it yet, but I've seen runners on our team in the past get destroyed by Leg 1. The run from Timberline to Gov Camp is all down hill, all the time. I hope you've been doing some downhill training or your shins/knees are going to be killing you by leg 3.

There's really not much reason to go to Netarts (sorry DG). If you want to hit a beach and see the light house, head to Cape Mears. Head towards Netarts and about a mile out of Tillamook, there's a right hand turn off after a gentle bend in the road right after you go over the Tillamook River. If you stay on that road and ignore the left turn to the light house, there's a small infrequently visited beach access parking area at the end of the road. Great place to walk on the beach or have a campfire (assuming with the rain the ban on campfires on the beach is lifted). Or make the left hand turn at the sign and head up to the lighthouse. I would say it's no further to go to the lighthouse than it is to Netarts. Just a different road and hitting both locations requires 6-7 miles of back-tracking.

Nice! Sounds like a plan before heading back to Portland on Sunday.

Given the 100% chance of rain in the forecast, figured I'd verify what extent (if any) of this event is outdoors?

The DG party is 100% indoors with the exception of: 1) line-up at the entrance/start of event and 2) porta-potties to supplement the two bathrooms inside the brewery.

The event is indoors as said above, but yes, there is limited outdoor covering prior to entry. I would encourage those attending to plan for rain, and bring either a coat, umbrella, or very large rain hat if planning on waiting in line. It seems to take us a bit under half an hour to get folks in (we're hoping for even faster this time), so waiting in a vehicle until most are inside is not a horrible proposition.

How important is it to get into the party early? Meaning if I'm not towards the front of the line do you miss out on pours?

Depends. In the past, they have blown through kegs of certain beers. They're always replaced with something else, so it's not as if you need to worry about there not being any beer to drink, but if you want to be sure that you get to try every beer they pour, it's probably best to get there near the start and stay till the end. Of course if you do that, you're going to be drinking a LOT of beer.

Another tip- don't immediately get in the bottle line, which is the very longest it will be all day right after opening. Your allocation is guaranteed. Go get some pours, then purchase your bottles midway through the event when there's no line and you're likely in need of a break from drinking anyway.

To be honest, I've found it less to about when you get there than being at the right place at the right time. Kegs will get blown throughout the day, and depending on what they are replaced with they may last a long time or vanish almost instantly.

I think last time there was a keg of Stone Bu that got put on and immediately blew before the initial line for it cleared.

Unless you watch all the kegs like a hawk you are almost certainly going to miss something at some point, but its not like there will be a shortage of good beer to drink.

The real reason to get there early is just to have more time for awesome beer.

@deGardebrewing or anyone else who could potentially answer this question. We had a last minute cancellation but know a local that can and would like to fill the spot, if the name is changed on BPT, will it be honored at the door? Thanks in advance and cheers guys!

P.s. They are members early entry tickets.

I haven't stayed there yet, but I hope we can do a share while watching the second half of the Seahawks game.

A similar question was asked in an earlier, seperate thread. Here's the response from dG:

"Unfortunately, reservations are not transferrable. We set those terms at the point of sale so that we can ensure that only those who paid have entry (allowing us to control the number of people and bottle limits accurately), and just as importantly, to avoid any confusion and therefor delays in the process of admitting people."

They just posted on the Facebook machine that you can change names through brown paper tickets until 9am tomorrow

We just updated our policy on transfers.
We have worked out procedure to allow transfers UNTIL 9AM the day of the event and still be able to accurately and efficiently admit guests. After that, our lists will be printed, and we cannot accept changes.
Sorry for the change and any confusion for all.

We will also be offering non-release beers in Sunday, with the same limits as Thursday and Friday. This will likely result in a longer wait for bottles than if we did not, but we are changing the sales setup in the hopes that it will still be faster than last time.
