    Hey BA,

I completed a trade through Rate Beer I wanted to get your opinion on. I had an extra DLD ticket for Group A I just traded for, and I feel kind of in the middle about it. I traded for a Bramble and a Sanctification, both beers that I have yet to try and was very interested in. I know that it is hard to do a $4$ amount for beer excluding shelf price, but does this sound reasonable? I paid a lot for it, and probably should have waited to try to get a cheaper ticket... but oh well. Thoughts?

*This thread is not intended to be a trade thread, and is only for opinion/learning purposes regarding the perceived vs real market value of ticket to beer ratio. In other words, don't account taze me bros!

My thoughts are that 99% of us would have offered you significantly more that what you received. Sanctification is an off the shelf and Bramble is great but DLD tickets were harder to score than a Hannah Montana concert for my daughter.

Bah, that's what I figured. Almost had a Hunahpu+ some more worked out, but time and offers were starting to get scarce, plus ebay tickets were dropping.

Wait a minute. You paid an inflated price for a ticket, then retraded it for the two mentioned beers? I'm confused exactly as to what you're asking.

The price of the ticket is on the ticket. If people stop giving into the scalpers, then all "leftover" tickets would be at cost.

Also, it's headaches like this and the profiteering from ticket scalpers that pretty much ruined the whole ticket trading on here that used to be ok.

Sanctification is a beer I've sent to people as an extra. That's all I have to say about the matter.

Kind of. I did give in to the scalpers (I hate that I did), and the tickets have come down considerably since I did. Basically, 100 per ticket. I traded for the two previously mentioned beers, since after I did, the price came crashing down, and my offers began to dwindle (plus the price of scalpers began to come down). With the shrinking price range, I tried to trade out at the highest point I could, with the best offers, and ended up with this. Not ideal I'm guessing, but my situation made trades harder also (I had to look for an IP Chicago trade essentially, since the tickets won't arrive until Wednesday, and then tickets would be yet again cheaper). Sorry if this is confusing.

Well then, you should stop trying to play the market and be thankful you still got 2 beers that go over the ticket price when combined.

You paid $100 for a ticket, and then traded that $100 ticket for 1 (one) Bramble and 1 (one) Sanctification?

    Dude.

I hope I didn't come off as sounding bitchy... I didn't want to sound like I'm complaining, and I'm ok with the trade, just not thrilled. I'm new at the Dark Lord thing, and just wanted some veteran trading advice on the situation, since I'm new to the trade world here. I'm happy about going to DLD at all, not everyone got to, and it's nice to be able to get the opportunity, but trading is a weird thing I'm trying to wrap my mind around.

The long and short of it, basically. Really, the second ticket (at purchase time) didn't cost as much vs. what I would pay for 1 ticket (at the time) but it still hurts.

Did you expect to pay 100$ for a scalped ticket just to flip it for beer though? By purchasing a ticket via scalpers, you are pretty much agreeing to an open market, and you have to be aware the risks involved such as depreciation. There is too much bullshit involved in flipping tickets and it is not allowed on this site.

I didn't trade on this site, and yes I agreed to an open market. There is a lot of bullshit, and I did hate to deal with it, just wanted some advice on dealing with the market, more or less. Like I said, I'm new to this kind of stuff, and I know plenty of people wanted a ticket but didn't want to do the scalper thing, so I tried to think of a relatively fair thing to do by trading via beer there. Fair is subjective, obviously, but unreasonable from the other ends is a bit easier to spot. Basically, would this be considered "unreasonable", personal scalper hatred aside, as a trade?

basically, I tried to do a mitzvah, but still recoup my overall losses to where no one was offended.

Not trying to be a dick either, just trying to understand more of the situation, and it's more clear now.

The best way to gauge ticket prices is pretty much sticker price on the ticket. If the DL day tickets cost $20, then the beers you got are pretty generous. Since you paid $100 for the ticket, you should have just planned on going with that ticket and you burned yourself dude.

If all else fails and you can't understand a beers value, $4$ is always a great backup plan. If you are new to trading, perhaps trading with or for rare beers isn't the best idea yet.

No offense taken man, I appreciate all of the feedback. I am doing a few small trades right now, $4$, and feel much more comfortable with that route. I was trying to get somewhere in the middle, and I think I did ok with that trade, I guess I was trying to use my example as a way to figure out another aspect of the market besides $4$. I knew I was going to lose a bit of money, but the single tickets were much more expensive than as a bundle, so I figured I'd try to play two ends against the middle to make everyone happy. Bramble was a big want, and Sanct. I was a bit unsure as to the value of, but I'm glad you helped clear a bit up for me. If you're going to DLD, I'd be happy to buy you a beer or do a share.

I'm going to be as civil as I can about this.

Did you purchase dld tix to actually go, or did you buy them to use as trade fodder?

If you bought them to attend and you had someone back out, shit happens. You got some good beers out of the trade.

If you bought them to use for trades, I hope you and everyone like you burns in hell.

If you are offended by my post, you're probably a piece of shit.
