For those CS aficianados, what are the differences between these beers? Release stats for each would also be much appreciated (bottle counts, years released, etc.). Thanks!

So does nobody know the answer to this or does nobody care? Any Crooked Stave members care to chime in?

WWB Persica was batch 1. Came in a 750ml bottle, a little over 400 bottles released (I think I've heard 420 but not sure if that's accurate or if I'm just thinking about CO life). It's supposed to be pretty damn amazing and is my personal white whale. It's a BITCH to trade for and I've struck out even while offering 5+ barrel aged, limited Hill Farmstead releases. I think it came out in 2012?

The blend #1 and blend #2 came out in 2013, exclusive to Cellar Reserve members. One has the same base beer as batch 1 (the wild wild brett base) and one has a different sour base (l'brett d'or base). There have been issues with these bottles, but hopefully a little age should take care of everything.

Are you suggesting Persica was "Batch 1" or just calling the first version of 750mL CS Persica batch 1. Just for clarity's sake.

Because actual Batch 1 was in Red-Wine barrels with Raspberries.

Do you know which base was used for Blend 1 and which was used for Blend 2?

He's saying WWB Persica was the original batch of Persica.

    This.

The 750ml bottle labeled "WWB Persica" is the first batch of Persica.

WWB Batch 1, as you said, was the raspberry sour.

OK, so let me see if I have this straight:

The first Persica (Batch 1) was WWB Persica, released in 2012 at the brewery to the usual horde of good BAs, profiteers, and homeless mules (400ish bottle count). I guess this is essentially WWB aged in oak barrels with peaches. This beer is awesome but nigh impossible to get without organs and first born children.

The second Persica (Batch 2) was Persica Blend #1, released in 2013 to CS reserve members (unknown bottle count). This has a WWB base but is aged in red wine barrels with raspberries. This beer is infected and terrible and therefore easier to trade for.

The third Persica (Batch 3) was Persica Blend #2, released in 2013 to CS reserve members (unknown bottle count). This is a L'Brett D'Or base aged in oak barrels with peaches? This beer may have some issues but maybe more about mediocre taste vs. infection, therefore making it easier to trade for.

If this is not correct, set me straight. Thanks to all for the info!

No not correct. And part of it I fear was my attempt to be clear.

There is a beer by CS Called "Batch 1" which was aged in red wine barrels with raspberries. That is it's name. Batch 1.

The first run of Persica was in 750mL bottles as Franklinn mentions. And is referred to as Crooked Stave Persica. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25191/83317/

The second go round of Persica was the Reserve Society version. It consists of two varietals, one with a WWB base, and one the a L'Brett D'or base. Referred to as Blend #1 and Blend #2, respectively. They were released in 375mL bottles. They were $10.20 for RS members. 2 were included in your membership. All members were then allowed to buy up to 4 more of each. So there are at least 1800 bottles of each Blend. They are both currently in a phase where there is some widespread diacetyl issues with the bottles, and hopefully the pedio will calm down and the brett will eat up the diacetyl in the near future. Jury is still out though.

    Blend #2: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25191/105588/

As an aside: There is also a CS beer known as Waelzblood. This was allegedly supposed to be the base for Persica Blend#1+#2, but it lacked the peachiness Chad was looking for. Hibiscus was added and it was a special release for Reserve members who renewed their membership.

    Correct.

Not correct. One blend used the WWB base and the other blend used a different base (I believe it was L'Brett). Both had peaches. Both were aged/soured in oak barrels. Both were released at the same time to CS members in 375ml bottles (one with orange wax and the other with yellow wax).

Neither are infected. The bottles were released sooner than they should have been, and they both have strong diacetyl present. This should improve with time as the bugs eat away at the diacetyl. There is a big difference between that and an infection.

Ok, got it. All Persicas are aged in oak w/ peaches and there is no infection, just diacytl problems. The separate CS Beer "Batch 1" is the one w/ raspberries, which I believe I have had before. Thanks for all the info!
