Not trying to be a jerk, but you're sampling both, why not elaborate?

I am not really much into reviewing beers, I just know what I like and two seem quite similar to me. My buddy owns a brewery and I tried for years to taste this hops or bananas or mango in a beer and just don't. I rate them, bad, good, very good and great (with a couple of very greats).

Edward is a pale ale - lowest hop character of any HF's "hoppy" offerings. For that I enjoy it, but skip most VT IPA's and DIPA's - both of which are styles that Lawson's offers on a regular basis. So that comparison also seems like apples & oranges to me. Or was that just a general opinion specifically about Edward, maybe?

I had the James when it was available down this way and it was excellent, but didn't blow me away. I had the same opinion of the Edward. They may not be HF best offerings, but the two times I had Lawson's I was blown away. I have to admit I don't get all IPA's, Flower Power did nothing for me, but some I love. I will be happy to continue sampling all of HF's in the future. But so far I prefer Lawson's.

Send me down some Abner or Ephraim and I am sure I would change my mind.

Actually Tree House is my local premium brewer. Did the Warren/Alchemist trip two weeks ago. Will make it up to HF one day this spring.

limbo is good but not close to headdy IMO

I wanted it to be only live 15 mi from LONG TRAIL

I won't kick it out of the fridge, it's a solid IPA but not as balanced but i'm not the best reviewer in the world

    open drink enjoy

another hat to toss in the ring OTTER CREEK KIND RYED

    best packaging ever

it tatses kind of like founders harvest (different discussion)

they are both tasty as hell they just don't incorporate the bitterness as well as HT is what my point was I think?

Drinking HT now and it is more complex and a better overall drink than Limbo (which I guess we all know and I should have reserved opinion), but Limbo is like a baby HT. I drink the HT and say this is awesome, what was I thinking. Take a sip of Limbo and say, this is pretty damn good to. Considering Limbo is available anywhere right now, and 8 bucks a six pack- I think I might have a winner for now. Limbo is smoother, HT much more complex.

Wow, got it for $7.99 in Wilmington. New owners, hope they aren't undercharging.

Enjoyed the label, the beer, not as much. Thought it was ok - just kind of blah where the yeast character outshined any other flavor - might have been a month old when I drank it though. I enjoy the session IPA though - has some hoppiness to it.

While drinking some Heady the other night, I thought if the Kimmich's ever wanted (and yes, I know they don't) to go huge, they could make a small version of HT with the same instense hop flavor but in a more sessionable ~5% abv beer. Keep it in 16 oz cans, call it Little Tipper or something - maybe with a small guy with a hop beard on the can. Right now Trillium Pale Ales are filling that void for me when its available.

Forgot that one was in the 5%abv range. Not quite the same hop flavor - from what I remember anyway. But yes, that was an awesome beer - especially on cask- I remember the ice cream cone shaped heads, drinking it until the cask died at NERAX, and switching back and forth between the cask version and draft version at the brewpub when it was on handpump.

similar experience, the yeast character definitely takes over once it warms a little. and not in a good way. i do think the beer is very good and it's nice to have a local option for an affordable, highly dry-hopped, readily available west coast ipa in 6pks.

Just had it on tap. Great beer but I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul. This thread is over IMO. Good night.
