Well done. I see the 500ml cans all the time. I didn't know they packaged a stovepipe. Thanks @LesDewitt4beer!

As @grantcty pointed out, the Hacker Pschoor Dunkel is imported here still... but oddly enough (considering the other thread), it's a standard across Yard House locations. @steveh - I'm sensing you might be making an excursion once you confirm that your closest Yard House has both the HP Dunkel and Give 'Em Helles currently pouring.

I saw the Flensburger Dunkel on shelves recently ( @moodenba - at Farmindale Beverage). Its color is lighter than Hofbrau's. It tasted a little oxidized to me, but that's a character I often get in Dunkels and could be misidentifying. Grabbed a sixer of HB Freising's Dunkel yesterday. I love that one. It sacrifices complexity for cohesion.

HP dunkel at Yard House? I'm 100% going ASAP and I'm going to do my best to line up a designated driver

Double-check their local website for what's on tap.

And I've been to a Yard House with it on the menu but the keg was kicked and they were waiting for a replacement to come in (or something along those lines). So if it's an effort to get there, you might even want to call ahead to make sure it's pouring... but good luck with getting proper info . (and don't forget the "house" Schneider Helles )

Stovepipe beer taste was slightly different but not to the point of being like a different product. What struck me as odd was that there's a color difference. Perhaps that has to do with age as well.

What was the difference? Oxidation over time can darken a beer.

Huh? Buying an undated can makes it impossible to prove the supposition of many that the OP's difference was based on the ages of the 2 beers since canning or (given the brewer's "1 year" shelf life dating) how old is too old.

Paulaner and Hacker Pschorr beers are brewed in the same facility on the outskirts of Munich.

@zid -- I just found out a Yard House is opening much closer to me this weekend -- might get to try that Schneider sooner than I thought!
