Question... I was looking at Weizenbock style beers. I clicked on the "view most popular" and on top was Schneider Weisse Aventinus. I saw the rating as 4.34. I was curious to see if this was on the top 250 list. So I scrolled down to find it and on that list it was rated at 4.32. Are those beers weighted slightly different? Do the Bros. ratings have something to do with that? I didn't look yet to see if other beers varied. I just wanted to share my observation and see if there was an explanation. Thanks!

The ratings in the Top 250 List are derived from this equation that can be found at the bottom of the top 250 page:

    How was this list calculated?

Lists are generated using a Bayesian estimate that pulls data from millions of user reviews (not hand-picked) and normalizes scores based on the number of reviews for each beer. The general statistical formula is:
    weighted rank (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C

    where:

R = average rating for the beer
v = number of votes (ratings) for the beer
m = minimum reviews required to be considered (currently 100)
C = the mean across the current list (currently 3.77)
I'm assuming the score you see when you visit a beer's page is the mean of it's ratings.
