Uncooked brats and boil them in beer before you grill em. Johnsonville is my go too brats. I switch between Old Style and Pabst to boil.

My homebrew grain goes to my brothers chicken and goats. They love it.
Sometimes the grains go into my small garden at the beginning of the season too.

That will probably result in the first couple of days being slow until the slugs get onto Instagram. Once that happens you'll have lines of slugs there at the crack of dawn. The problem will be you'll need to have to rotate through different IPA's to keep their interest or they'll end up going to some other garden. When you find a hazy IPA they really like you need to make that a special release and make sure you can use an even harder to get DDH version and keep dropping vague hints that its coming back soon but then don't release it.

I guess there's one hole in this plan, the slugs will be dead before they can post to Instagram. Maybe just stick with Stroh's.

Sounds like a plan; however, I have 4 more Buds to use up. It was a close score overnight so the Bud is a worthy poison, plus I got rid of a bunch of gnats using the Bud, so I'll keep with it for now. Maybe I should get some Miller and Coors stuff and let the slugs decide which is best.

Why do I feel there's a What Beer Are Slugs Drinking Now (WBASDN) thread getting ready to start?

I wonder which one will end up being the silver bullet of slug killing...

Well we have a slight delay in any progress towards a comparison involving Miller and Coors. Two nights ago something drank the Stroh's bait that was in the trap for my final comparison with Bud, so that contest was a bust. (Whatever it was didn't drink the Bud!) Last evening I changed out the bait pans and poured Coors Light and Miller Lite to compare them. Yep, something drank the Miller Lite and didn't touch the Coors Light. But the Coors Light did well by trapping 6 of the slimy critters.

I'll try the Coors/Miller comparison again tonight. I'm also putting out my trail camera to hopefully find out what lush is drinking that beer. More to come.

There are far too many raccoons and opossums around me to even thing about putting out a beer trap. Last thing I need is a drunk raccoon tearing through my garbage.

    1. Brats
    2. Cakes (high booze stouts)
    3. some people muttering about washing their hair...
    4. watching slugs get hammered would be a fun activity. So meta....

I mostly have deer and ground hogs around my property, and I occasionally see a skunk, opossum or raccoon. (Squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks too, but I don't suspect them.) The Miller and Coors have been poured and the trail camera is in place, so we'll see,

A buddy in my brew club takes old beer, adds sugar and boils it down a bunch which makes his "Was Beer Wiskey" . It packs a punch fo sho.

Wait, is he distilling it? Thickening and sweetening? Refermenting? What is going on here?

That's funny, considering all whiskey was beer.

And as to topic, I will agree that beer works well in cooking. I have used it not only traditionally in chili, beer brats, and in making bread, but also in some reductions of certain wild mushroom dishes that worked excellently.

It sounds like the buddy gets an alcohol-free sweet, beer syrup, or there's a step in the process that isn't being talked about, but which every good 'ol boy from Tennessee knows about.

Well sahprise, sahprise, sahprise!! Nothing drank the beer last night! Both pans are still full. Maybe the critter saw the sin of its ways after two hangovers and decided Miller Lite or Coors Light weren't worth another effort. (Or I confused the critter by switching which beer was poured into which pan and it left without drinking anything when it didn't find the Miller Lite.)

If you're keeping score, this may be a very telling result: Coors Light = 6, and Miller Lite = 1 (and that one was just leaving but I counted him anyways since he gave up his life to my knife blade).

Apologies if you are reading this while eating.

I’m a dud , I only use it for Brats if I’m not drinking it. I usually reach for a proper wine otherwise.
