I tried to search for this and it isn't the easiest thing to search for. I just traded for a BA Ten Fidy crowler. This one happens to be the Wild Turkey Whiskey variation. There is a beer labeled Ten Fidy (Whiskey Barrel) which seems to blanket a bunch of different beers. Now someone has started to break them out into the different kinds of whiskey but if you look at the reviews they are not consistent. Some people are rating this under Ten Tidy (Whiskey Barrel) and some are rating under a new one called Ten Fidy - Wild Turkey Barrel Aged.

Another example of this is Double Shot from Treehouse. We now have 10 different variations which are all awesome but they are basically the same beer with different coffee. Double Shot especially over time is going to have all of them in the top 250 because they are all highly rated.

I dont know what can be done about it but it seems like there should only be one beer and maybe you select the variation when you are rating or reviewing. Not sure if that is technically possible but I was just wondering what everyone thought about this.

Yeah... I've often wondered this too, as Trillium is doing the same thing with their Fort Point and Congress Street stuff... they're dry hopping it with multiple different hops and then a new variation is born (Double Dry Hopped Ft Point, Mosaic Dry Hopped Ft. Point, Galaxy Dry Hopped Ft. Point, etc etc) ... and they're all gonna end up in the top 250 (or they're already there), because they're highly rated (and they all should be, they're all outstanding brews) ... but I do see your point here, not sure what should/could be done about it...

EDIT: just looked at the top 250, and 3 of the 4 bottled variants of Fort Point are on the top 250 list... and I'm sure the Mosaic variant will be too once it has enough reviews...

Having had these brews, I know that each of them has a unique flavor profile, but this is almost kind of cheating to get your name on the top 250 list as many times as possible...

I almost mentioned Trillium here as well. My only hesitation there is they use the same base beer but the hops are different and it really changes the taste, smell, etc. Galaxy Fort Point is so drastically different somehow than Fort Point that they almost shouldn't use the same name. They are also different, clear labels on the beer and you don't have people rating Galaxy Fort Point under regular Fort Point. Everyone knows exactly what they are drinking.
