Wish I would've known

 

if youre a member you still get 2 allocated bottles. sale was for extras.

 

Except that:

1. A while ago we were told that there will be "no limit on special releases, pretty sweet huh?"
2. We were supposed to get 750ml bottles.
3. We were supposed to get cheaper extra bottles (at already lowered limit to 3pp) as an apology to downsizing the bottles to 22oz. No word on those being sold on first come first served basis.
4. Now we're not even able to get those extra bottles, with the announcement of the sale less than 24h before the sale. Who does that?

I split my membership, so now not only I'm down to 1 bottle, but also in a smaller size. I don't care about the value of the missing 3.4 ounce, it's all about how ridiculously badly this whole membership is handled.

 

the keyword here is extra... when you bought the membership what you paid for was 10 bottles + discount. everything else is a bonus, not a right, and first come, first serve. i get that youre bummed on the smaller bottle, but it wasnt their intention as it came in wrong and they didnt want to push the release. they did indeed drop the price on the extras because of the smaller bottles after all.

an email went out 24 hours before (yesterday at 10 AM -- which actually makes it 26 hours before) and then again this morning.

also, if youre in the closed facebook group, all of this was discussed (including bottle counts). the email even said the sale goes up at noon and to BE PREPARED!

this is their first release ever and they are still learning the ropes. this isnt the bruery society that has years under their belt. cut them a bit of slack. its important to note that they are taking this experience and are gonna modify the next release to better suit the needs/wants of all members. at the end of the day, they arent trying to do this to piss people off, they want their members happy obviously. if they were just gonna do the same method for the next one, id understand your frustrations a bit more, but they are learning and changing and trying to accomodate everyone.

 

FYI I'm very far from frustrated, the membership was a gamble from the beginning and I perfectly understand the risk of gambling...which doesn't change the fact that as a member I can express my feelings about how the membership is run.

The only thing you're right about above is the email notification, turned out to be my mistake with it being 8am not 8pm...again, 26h notice for first ever members extra sale is still as bad as under 24h in my opinion. Also, I'm not in the FB group.

As far as dropping the price on the extras, because of the smaller bottles - I'm wondering how many member actually got them and took advantage of it. I'm assuming slightly above 75, so that leaves the other 125 with nothing.

You're talking about the keyword being "extra", I'm talking about a "keyword" being "no limit on special releases", then changing that to 3, then doing a flash sale on first come first serve basis. If you're an owner of a new brewery, I'm sure (or at least I hope) you did your research how your future competition works and handles similar situations, so you really shouldn't make promises you won't be able to deliver. Of course, I know this is a minor issue in this particular release, what I'm pointing out it's just not a very good sign for the future. Summarizing, I don't want to sound all negative, I haven't tried any of their beers yet and I'm certainly hoping they will live up to the hype and make everything bad to be forgotten.

 

i agree with grze. i feel like they should have mentioned somewhere that the bottles were first come first served. WHile i would have loved to get more bottles im sure i will be able to find a way to survive but i do feel that there have been things that have been lacking with their overall communication but hopefully in the future all will be forgotten if the beers delivered are as good as they possibly could be.

Honestly I hope y'all get your money's worth with the club but I steered way clear of this and was really surprised when a friend with great taste membered up. This thing looks fishy to me from every angle and I will usually buy just about anything....

Curious to hear some reviews once they start rolling in. Handicapped for the trade pumping that'll inevitably happen of course

 

In a couple FB groups ppl were trying to trade this release 1:1 for ba abraxas. I chuckled at the memes used.

 

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha... bu-bu-but it's a 4.6 based on 16 untappd reviews.

 

And

3 of the 16 reviews are Kyles.::the Brewer/owner

 

And the rest are most likely friends because it was his homebrew batch, so these reviews would be highly biased!

 

Thats what I assumed, pretty lucky he didn't get caught. Because if he did, that would be a lot of members $$$ down the drain because he couldn't keep up with the original time line he outlined and kept having things pushed back. With that being said, Im glad he has his licenses in order and is brewing beer (legally). I hope its as great as his friends are saying, because if someone wants to trade it for BA abraxas, that means its valued higher than Cantillon Rose De Gambrinus (that is still like 3:1 for a ba abraxas). Lots of exciting stuff coming out in the world of beer these days!

 

From what I heard this is correct.

 

What were they brewing on? They posted a picture on their Facebook page on January 3 that their brewhouse equipment arrived and was being hooked up the following week. That means that either this batch coming out now was contract brewed elsewhere or is homebrew.
