Resin. This shit sucks. Was hoping for hoppy goodness but got malty sweet bitterness. Yeah it was fresh too

Rough opinions... I thought Resin was pretty decent. Exceptional aromas of freshly-mowed lawn as soon as I cracked the can. Happy about the case-split between me and jeremy13586 (that shit's long gone now).

Not a DIPA or a Barleywine but, IMO, Double Bastard (American Strong Ale), definitely drinks like one to me. I also feel like a few of the Lagunitas offerings such as Undercover Investigation Shut Down (available now), drink like Barleywines as well. Cheers!

This is all a hoax to get you to buy old beer.

That, or trying to find the fruits of an experiment. In my situation, I drank three from my four-pack and put the last bottle in safe stow.

What if you just bought a 4-pack and replaced a bottle with a barleywine? Instant cellaring.

Cigar City just came out with a new 110k+ batch 5, On the label it says that it is between a DIPA and a Barleywine.

I was sitting on a 2009 bomber of Smuttynose Big-A I.P.A. until recently just to see how it would taste. It was pretty good, for sure reminded me of a barleywine.

    Cheers

Maharaja has my vote for sure. Great beer, but not a double IPA. Has a very syrupy sweet toffee flavor. I get very little hop flavor from this beer and the malt is front and center. Anyone else agree?

I would say Knuckle Sandwich is an excellent candidate followed by Hercules and Maharaja. On the flip side I think Green Flash's Barleywine and SN Bigfoot are barley wines that drink like DIPAs.

Yes, I have had Maharaja and totally agree. Love that beer and I should have included it with my original 2 that I mentioned. And I believe Avery does classify it as a Double IPA.

Ska brewing Decadent Imperial IPA. I bought two bottles of this and couldn't finish the first. I laid the second down for two years to mellow out. Many will disagree, but I thought Exponential hoppiness was way too malty and sweet and drank like a barleywine. I'll throw in a nod to Knuckle Sandwich as well as TheJollyHop mentioned. Maybe not a total malty barleywine, but definitely sweet and malty for a west coast dipa. I actually haven't enjoyed that beer yet the few times I've had it. I'm sure more will come to mind soon.
