DIPA's that drink like Barleywines

    Me three!! I've had Maharaja on tap, fresh in a bottle, and old in a bottle and it tastes like a hopped up barley wine not unlike a Sierra Nevada Big-Foot!!! Great beer but does not compare to real DIPA's like Pliny, Hopslam, or Kern River Citra!!

    90minute, 120minute, most east coast DIPA's, and a lot of PNW DIPA.

    That being said, it's a very fine line but the definition to me is, a proper DIPA won't age, it's high in alcohol, low in malt and after the hops fade, it tastes like shite. Else, if you can age it, you really made an American Barleywine, very hoppy and will survive the test of time, as the hops fade it transistions into an english barleywine. DIPA's should be aged b/c there isn't enough malt body to really shine after the hops are gone.
