    Bring it back, please.

I feel like no one views it as a truly negative aspect of the site, despite some folks over-posting for likes. Otherwise, it seems few are neutral too it and most would like to see it return. I found it added the game aspect as previously mentioned and did in fact encourage me to try something new, or from a new brewer, or from a new place, or of a new style, many many times. Hope it comes back!

Didn't really put much importance on it, but it was interesting & fun. Then *poof* ...it was gone. Seems like my cat ran away. Please bring it back.

some threads are more like friendly than others to, Likes definitely had too big of a roll in our BK. Some people definitely post a lot and are giving good information or enjoying sharing a virtual beer with friends on the WBAYDN forum and should definitely be rewarded for their posts but cut the likes BK to 1/10th of what it is now and it would be a good system.

At the same time it still encouraged plenty of people to try more beers and shy people to become reviewers! Its definitely done good!

This seems OK, I'd just add overall Karma score multiplies beer review score Karma X .5. I think the overall quality of the scores would rise

If we are still going to have levels poobah would need to be like 100k points too! as likes are still very prevalent on certain threads! I would have hit poobah in a month!

I don't really care that much about the "titles" but it seems to me that Poobah should take years to obtain.

I completely vibe with this post. I have been on this site far longer than I have been a member. To be perfectly honest, I joined to find a beer trading community and pokemonGo style wanted to catch 'em all. Beer karma (and some gentle harassment @mythaeus) encouraged me to participate in the forums, forums that I was reading anyway and had at least something to say about. While others have commented about BK points reducing the quality of content, I disagree. There will always be terrible comments and sometimes bad jokes =] -this is the internet after all. BK rewards are logarithmic in nature. This helps to get new members involved (& subsequently hooked).
    Just my two cents,

well since I'm the only dissenter ill bite..It must me my comments on quality of content

There was never people lying about what beer they were drinking now before likes.
-To be honest likes only give you so many points, the guy with 10k likes has the same points as the guy with 100k.

The thing that rubbed me the worst was those who went out to "review" 5 thousand-10 thousand beers in a year or two and the only comment would be "barrel aged in this, Ingredient added" lack of integrity.

To top it off most of these "poobas" have the least valuable opinion most of the time its like they climbed the mountain to be the biggest Dusch.
I would rather remain a champion forever rather then become a poobah of nothing.

I'll admit I found the beer karma points entertaining and they even drew me in to participate more on the site.

As a non-paying guest on this site, I have great respect for what The Bros have accomplished with this site and understand they must do what is best for their business.

Honestly, I didn't notice that it went away until I saw this thread.

Personally, the loss of the web app and the reduced role of the forum feed on the home page are greater losses for me.

But none of the above will stop me from visiting and contributing to this site.

I still view it as the number one consumer site for Beer Advocates.

Okay but I also don't read review and completely determine whether I am going to make the effort to attain and try a particular beer. How does this answer regression to the mean? Countless lofty reviews are the same shit that has just been said in different words by previous reviewers. I don't care if you had 1k+ words to say about it or just a series of numbers, both are benchmarks that I will consider (with a grain of salt).

It would make sense if it did. A point system where we just see how many point's someone has accumulated would work fine too!

maybe you haven't noticed the members who have rated 5k+ beers without a meaningful review. This has nothing to do with lofty scores.

So maybe what BA staff needs to come up with is a means of creating a point system that actually rewards people for quality rather than quantity. I guess the issue there would be the extra work.

or make a point system where quantity related things like likes or posts have a much smaller impact!

Likes already have a minimal impact, its like 50-100 karma points.

The problem is/was too many Poobas were Posers.

OK, I'm going to throw this out there.

If you reinstate beer karma, you should consider swag with BA status. I would buy some swag what with my former Beer Advocate status

Personally, I really enjoyed beer karma. I'd love to see it back. I was looking forward to seeing beer karma expanded upon as was hinted over the past. If we're just going to have stats under users, I'd like to see more useful stats like beers reviewed (not just rated), or trade reputation. Perhaps ratings vs. reviews would be interesting. Reviews really substantiate a rating, which is why I find them so important. I did join here to read reviews, review beer, and trade beer after all.
