I agree the old app was much quicker to load & easier to use. Please bring it back.

Interesting. I did not know folks used the app this much. Honestly, I keep a tab open to Beer Advocate in my Google Chrome App pretty darn constantly. It find it quicker and easier to surf to the information I need while I'm in the store.

I used the BA app for a bit, but deleted it the same week I downloaded it. I simply don't want to put in a learning curve for an app, when I already know the website well. Plus, the app always seemed to lag more-so than my tab in Google Chrome.

It sounds like the app will be relaunched when BA 4.0 hits. I'll certainly give it a try, although I'm finding I prefer a tab in Google Chrome to a propriety app 9 out of 10 times across the whole market.

While we did have a core group of users, overall the app wasn't used that much.
It's not a part of BA 4.0, and we currently have no plans to relaunch the app.

FWIW, I really liked the app and used it far more than the situation now...which entails logging in every time I go to Safari for some reason, even though I tick the "keep me logged in" box every time. App was faster, more browsable, easier to manage. Added beers super easily. Don't access via mobile anymore. JMO, still a fan of web site.

I prefer apps to mobile web sites and Beer Advoate's app did everything I wanted it to. I miss it.

Please bring back the app! The website is nice on a computer but on a mobile device, not so much. Reading the forums on my phone was very convenient. Shopping for beer now takes twice as long. I'd even be willing to pay a small fee to use the phone app again.

Please bring back the app. Much easier to use on a mobile phone.

I really liked the app.I put a shortcut to the full site on my phone but it reloads a new page every time. I end up with 17 BA tabs open at once.

I also have a shortcut but I do not see the issue with it opening a new browser tab everytime...

What OS and version? I've had mine for a long time (since before the app was released and it still works fine, whatever OS version came out on the iPhone 4).

Please bring back the app. It worked beautifully for me. The nicest feature on it was when you looked at beers from a single brewery...upon listing all the beers it showed the rating (out of 5) of all the beers so you could get a sense of what that brewery's highest rated beers were. I found this to be extremely helpful while at the actual brewery or tap takeovers.

I used the app whenever beer shopping. Now, I cannot use BA on my iPhone because I'm constantly getting redirected to popup ads in the app store. I hope these technical problems will give you a new reason to consider reintroducing the BA app. I suppose the app has higher maintenance costs and it probably generates less advertising revenue. Profitability is a justifiable consideration. However, there's also a downside, in the form of losing potential users. I think your answer to the FAQ below is short-sighted. I'm invested in BA now, and will likely stick with it. However, younger users are very oriented to phone apps, and you will lose many potential users in subsequent generations of beer lovers who will look first for a beer app, of which there are many. Even if you didn't build business around the phone app, having one available will surely generate more users, all things being equal. I hope you will bring it back!

"Are you worried that BA will now go out of business/is no longer relevant as it doesn't have an app?
No. Upwards of 70% of our current traffic is from browsers on mobile devices and the rest is from desktop browsers. The app was a fraction of our overall traffic, and we didn't build our business around it."

@Phoodcritic Thanks for the feedback, and we're addressing the popup ads elsewhere, but we have no intentions of reenabling the app and our long-term vision is far from short-sighted.

(You're also taking that quoted content out of context.)
