I have no problems with Stone, in general. They have had beers that I've given a pass on (Crime & Punishment?) others that are one and done, but overall, the core ones are very good. I haven't bought as much of them lately as there are so many other good breweries out there, but Ruination is the one that turned me into a hophead. It's been a while since I've gotten it, but I did pick up a Ruin 2.0 yesterday and really enjoyed it. Hard to say what the difference is, but I'm not swearing off it by any means. I generally will pick up an Enjoy By when I see it not too old. The Imp Stout is usually excellent and ages beautifully. the Bastards are all very good. Thereis no company yet that I completely agree with every single thing they do and every single thing they make, so I won't hate on them for the few misses.

Honestly you could just be burnt out on stone's beers. Give 'em a rest, take some time away. Go back in a year try 'em again they may taste incredible. From day to day palates are changing and evolving. I never say never with breweries unless it's EXTREMELY bad. I truly did not enjoy this years batch of Ruinten but I will be buying it again, because previous versions were killer! I love most of their beers but as with every brewery there are a few misses for me(That others completely enjoy).

Wait, you're bashing Stone and you haven't even tried the most significant beer they've developed in the last five years?
Your original opinion is null and void.

Don't be an asshole, I simply said how I felt and invited people to expand upon that or tell me if there was any reason to give their beer another shot, it is an opinion, and I spoke about what drove me away from trying it or any of the newer stone beers in the first place, it is an opinion and I am entitled to mine, and you to your but you don't have to be rude, there's no need for that, and in any case, that comment is in no way constructive, I never said the brewery was bad, I said that I was disenchanted with it

No way am I disenchanted. Love Enjoy By, Ruination 2.0 and RuinTen. Had fresh Double Dry Hopped Ruination recently and thought it was fantastic. Not interested in some of their more exotic offerings, but adore what they do with hops.

I like Stone and I respect Stone, but I just do not get excited about their beer (especially the IPAs) anymore. My last Stone "wow beer" was Xocoveza, an unsuspecting stout. Everything else since has been above average for sure, but not anything to write home about. That being said, I give them props for always trying new things and taking the "risk". I just don't run out in search of new releases anymore. If I hear about something via word of mouth, or see people ranting about something on here, I may go find it, otherwise nah, I will just stick to my usual non-Stone staple.

Stones over rated and over priced there are so many beers that are better than anything I've had by them!

topic seems misleading. mostly hearing these small few specific items/iterations are disenchanting, (to me personally)... so let me start a convo packaged as disenchantment over the entire brewery.

It's been awhile since I've had some of the Stone offerings, but I'm pretty sure things have not changed. So, I say it is you. Stone makes some pretty freakn' good brews.

    Cheers!

I got disenchanted with them for awhile but their IPA's are still great for my taste. RuinTen is probably the best West Coast IPA I can buy locally right now.

Crazy that a company as big and successful as Stone would purposely make a beer similar to sweaty armpits. Your the man buddy.

so sorry if I hurt your feelings but there's no way this can be the first time you've heard enjoy by being described as oniony, garlicky, or offensive.

Stone is easily, and without question, one of the breweries I'm least disenchanted with. They are, in my opinion, one of the very best 'macro-craft breweries' in the world (along with Lagunitas, FW, and Founders). They, far more than most, are constantly innovating, whether through their odd-year releases, collaborations, re-imagining of classics (Pale and Ruination 2.0), and/or adoption of new formats (like Enjoy By in 6-packs). I always know how old their beer is when I buy it, and I also know it's almost invariably outstanding, regardless of style.

Them's fighting words - considering as it is that Ruination 2.0 is one of the best IPAs out there, with great availability and price to boot.

Once again, more Stone Hatred. Don't get it myself! I understand everyone has different tastes but Stone is a staple in the beer community. Show some respect! They are pioneers whether you like them or not.

I haven't had the green tea one. Have you tried the new Ruination? It's legit.

Personally I think enjoy by is straight nasty. If you read my other comment above, that not so ringing endorsement of that ONE beer, you'd know the I gave praise to some of Stone's other beers. I like stone and don't think hating one of there beers shows disrespect to the brewery as a whole. Bell's is my favorite brewery but I won't hesitate to blast the shit out of a gross beer like Venus. Not sure why people get so boner bent about this?
