I BLAST THE HELL out of Three Floyds. Not because of their beers, but their attitudes. I get it! At least Stone is nice to their customers. That's why I get boner bent! Both breweries, IMO make fantastic beers.

I've heard that about FFF. The thing that twists my Twinkie about them is the fact they don't distribute to Michigan. So close yet so far away :slight_frown:

I love Stone beers but can't buy them, because Brewdog have a monopoly on the distribution in the UK and I won't give them my money.

I dont think Stone's ipa/hop heavy beers have a similar taste or fake taste. From Old Guardian to Arrogant Bastard to Enjoy By to Ruination.....they show they can make unique beers that incorporate hops as they are intended to be in the beer as a whole.

Forget just craft brewing, from a business world perspective this seems like one of the companies that would never cut corners in their products or processes.

I've been really impressed with Stone IPAs. The updated Ruination, the Enjoy By series, Points Unkown, plus hoppy beers like Imperial Mutt Brown have been really excellent IMO.

IMO, they deserve credit for some of their experimental one-off brews, such as the line of stochasticity project beers, but I haven't really preferred them. Stone basically put double IPA on the map with Ruination, and defined "west coast IPA" with Stone IPA. The new Pale Ale 2.0 and Ruination 2.0 are much needed updates that shine, and Enjoy By is simply amazing, and again, IMO, the standard from what imperial IPA should be. Their Imperial Russian Stout is always awesome, and their specialty stouts (W00tStout in particular) have been fantastic. so yeah, to parrot what others have said, they are not perfect but generally hit more than they miss.

Ruination 2.0 is one of their best this year. The way you get a balanced mix of guava, passionfruit, little pineapple, and a slight bit of pine resin. Another quality beer that hides the ABV and finishes dry and hoppy. They did make a double dry hopped , havent tried it yet. Thank God its in 6 packs too at 12 dollars.

I agree that stone is overrated. Their ipas and stouts both lack the nuance, subtlety, and complexity that other beers embrace. Its not 1995 anymore fellas.

I love enjoy by. Everything else I've had from them is nothing too special.

Once again... http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...sons-other-than-the-beer.230117/#post-2988497 (Which was itself a "once again"...). I do not make jokes about such subjects.

Our support of individual craft breweries, and the industry itself is well documented and has nearly a 20 year history.

If you were a brewery who took an arrogant level of pride in your product, you'd want it to be taken care of properly until it gets into your end customers hands and you would be dicks about it.
There's being a dick for the right reasons when you stand up for what is right and protects the greater goal of getting into more hands, and then there's just being a dick because you have a chub sense of entitlement; which is what skirt chasers and mules are.

While everyone of this site is entitled to their opinion it is taken much better if you phrase it in a way that is civil and respectful. Your post is neither. Greg, Steve, and the whole Stone crew are some of the most supportive people in this industry to smaller start up breweries. Without Stone the American Craft Beer scene would be far worse off. To be honest your comments are a prime example of how this site is turning into a place where civil discourse is being ruined by attitudes and comments like yours. Good day to you.

I remember asking some folks on here to point me to a beer with "onion" profile because I hadn't had one. Then I bought a warm stored enjoy by (I think it was 4.20 bought around 4.14) - there's that onion I'd heard people talk about.

I'd never experienced it before, and never with Stone. I wonder if the folks that get that consistently out of their beers are buying ones that have been on the shelf for a bit rather than kept cold in the store? Ruination 2.0, Enjoy By, and Ruinten have been great and highly enjoyable, imo. I enjoyed the IRS I had this year too, and Arrogant Bastard is still an all time favotie

Some of their stochasticity stuff has been fun, I enjoy their RIS, smoked porter series and will be buying up a bunch of that carrot cake one.... but their IPA's and DIPA I wholeheartedly agree are just not my thing anymore, I have had several of the Enjoy By and they do not taste of anything but bitter and what i call "Stone IPA" nose.

I still think Stone is an excellent brewery all around. While I think that one or 2 of their offerings recently have missed the mark, such as Ruination 2.0, I think they are awesome all around. I like that they are not afraid to try new things and experiment with their beers, especially with various IPAs/DIPAs, and brew a lot of one offs and collaboration beers. I really think that is where they've shined the most as a brewery the past year or 2. I particularly like their Stochasticity Project Series and Spotlight Series they've been doing for the past year or so. Most of their year around offerings and regular yearly seasonal offerings are pretty spot on and very excellent representations of the style each of them are.

I've kind of been going the opposite way...Wasn't super into them for a while, just because they weren't releasing many things that piqued my interest, and then Delicious, Pale Ale 2.0, and some others came through my city, and I've been really enjoying their beers. I think I'll always have a soft spot for Stone, honestly.
