Dissident in TX?

We got it two years ago, so probably.

 

In the past week I've heard "maybe", "it doesn't look good" and "we have no idea" from different beer people. So take that!

 

Heard it should drop soon...would be fitting if it did while Deschutes was here in Austin for their Base Camp.

 

Speaking of their Base Camp in Austin... I read the lineup and it looks pretty sad. Just the same 4 or 5 beers pouring at each event. And it's their regular base offerings as well. Anybody know anything more? Was expecting more diversity...

 

"Very small amount coming to Texas" - Deshutes rep. No promises were made.

 

Yea sounds like the affiliated events are more for people not familiar with Deschutes and not as experienced with craft beer as most of the people on BA. Hopefully the finale will churn up a one off or something different...

 

My buddy (cfrobrew) emailed the Texas rep from Deschutes and received a reply to the effect of "there are very few cases going to Dallas and Austin. Unfortunately no cases going to Houston..." cfrobrew may chime in if he sees this...

 

That sucks. I passed the only time I had a shot at getting The Dissident, I was new to craft.

 

The rep was pretty cool about it actually. She said its a VERY small release here in texas. I dont think theyre skipping houston because they hate us I think Houston is just too big of a market to spread a small release out in. It sounded like they had a lot of trouble getting the label released here.

 

Well there is an easy fix for that. Just send Houston all the beer they were going to send Dallas and Austin. Those cities don't deserve this beer.

I'll think back on this post fondly while I'm sipping on my Dissident.

 

Oh, come on, it's not like they are shitting on us or don't want to deal with us. Sounds like there's just not much product to spread around and we're just the ones not getting it this time around. Let's not act like Houston hasn't been the lucky city over ATX/DFW with out of state breweries many, many times before...

 

It happened last year with this very same brewery (although it was a distributor error to my knowledge) when the rest of the state got Black Butte 23 and Austin saw none.

 

Kinda off topic, but has anyone heard anything about Abyss? Didn't it come out about this time last year?

 

Releases the 15th I believe...which means we get to wait the usual month til we see any
