Traveling from Charlotte, NC to Savannah and wondering what I might find distributed there. Any Creature Comforts can make their way there? Orpheus? Anything else I should look for? Thanks.
I was there in August and there isn't Creature Comforts in cans anywhere. There may be a few places of it on draught. Orpheus is there though. I recommend Southbound and Burnt Hickory as well for other GA breweries.
CC will be hard to find packaged but might be on draft, check the distillery. Also, check packaging dates on Orpheus/Burnt Hickory hoppy stuff. Southbound (above), Service, & Coastal Empire should have fresh offerings. If you see Coastal Empire "Dawn Patrol" grab it--you won't be disappointed! Also, go to Southbound's brewery while your there. Have a great trip.
Orpheus is easy to find in Savannah, but Creature Comforts is not. Check out Hops and Barley, the owner is really cool and helpful. According to him, CC cans have come to Savannah only once and that was awhile ago. He did say that some bars will have their stuff on tap at times. A great beer bar to check out is Crystal Beer Parlor, good food and a nice tap list
I was just going to create a thread since I'll be in Savannah this coming weekend. We plan on driving to Westbrook either Friday or Saturday night, and generally hanging around Savannah as I know its Oktoberfest weekend. I guess the only thing I may be looking for in particular is Gose if its possible to get at the brewery or elsewhere. Other than that I am very open to suggestions on good bottle shops or restaurants with craft beer offerings. Definitely looking for fresh seafood! Which reminds me we will make the trip to the coast at some time so any suggestion on where to hit would be great. Are Southbound and Burnt breweries in/near Savannah? Whenever we decide to hit up Westbrook we may bring some Chicagoland beers to share if they're into that, so if you might want to meet up BM me and ill update when we have a set time.
Southbound, Moon River, Coastal Empire, and Service are all in Savannah. Burnt Hickory is not. Google will tell you just how close those four are to each other.
Was there in July and stopped by Hops and Barley. The guy manning the shop was really cool (don't know if it was the owner or not). Definitely no Creature Comforts, but I got some Orpheus and Burnt Hickory, plus some Prairie Bomb! for way cheaper than in NC.
David, the owner at Hops and Barley, just finished putting in a draft system for growlers, and has the best prices in town on packaged beer. If you make it by Moon River, we've got a couple interesting things on right now: Duppy Conqueror- Kettle Sour'd Session India Red Ale brewed in collaboration with Southbound, dry hopped with Nelson, Galaxy and Mosaic Southern Sour Blend #2- Belgian-style sour red blended with Berliner Weisse Taterlicious- Special Bitter with 300+ lbs of sweet potatoes in the mash Shoot me a PM if you want a nickel tour. Have a good time in Savannah.
