I think there should be a new feature to a beer's page here on beeradvocate. Just like we have section for availability (Fall, Summer, Year-Round, etc), I think there should be a little map where you can pin where you bought the beer. That way, users can get an easy sense of where the beer is/is not readily available.

For the record, the idea came to me after seeing maps of bird-population-distribution

Where's the seasonal availability section? I've not seen this...

It's right under Style, where it will say like Fall, Rotating, Year-Round, etc

Interesting Idea. I'd like to see that happen too.

I really like the idea of being able to pin the beer you've purchased at a specific store, brewery or establishment (which are all already on BA!). Being able to then view a map of all the places a specific beer was purchased at would be pretty cool, and would eliminate the need to look up a brewery's distribution footprint on Seekabrew (if enough people used the feature).

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. It might be quicker than what I've done in the past--For big releases like BCBS, I'd get on a local thread (Chicago), and let people know where I had just picked it up. Every second counts with some of these beers, so the faster we could get the word out, the better.

(I feel like it's a safer bet to let a BA go grab a "whale" than to let some guy at Whole Foods grab them simply because he sees everyone else doing so, although obviously either way, it's none of my business)

As long as people don't abuse the system by adding their house in California as where they got HF in a trade (got it on my porch brahhhh) , it could make for a very nice streamlined and constantly updated distribution list for breweries with some simple coding too.

With a color coding based on time, you could see where beers used to be too.

Other beer sites have been doing this for years. It would be great to have both distribution and serving type (bottle, can, growler etc.) on this site as a tool for those of us who travel a lot.
