Saint Arnold Divine Reserve 16 is being bottled today. It will be an Adambier.

So is this going to be an old world example that is sour and/or has Brett, or is this going to be basically an Ale version of a Dopplebock?

Either way I am really intrigued. I always love it when breweries really step outside the box like this, and do something other than a DIPA or RIS.

Sounds awesome, I am vaguely familiar with the style and know there are several interpretations. I have been reading a little more about this style today, and Ron Patterson on the European forum here says it can be sour. Others have described it exactly as Saint Arnold did above, and read that traditional versions use a Kölsch-like fermentation and yeast as well. Really looking forward to this one.

If there's one thing I've learned about DR releases is that there will always be a second wave so there is no need to chase.

I hear you @icetrauma. It's in the plans, but currently not in barrels yet. We've got BBs planned through BB19 currently.

Not necessarily. Our demand for other beers has gone up and tank occupancy for DR beers is typically 3 months, depending on the beer. We can't afford to have too many tanks holding DRs. Especially since our ales stay in tanks for ~3 weeks. A lot of beers can be turned around in that time frame.

Hey Paul, this is not the sour interpretation. Lots of dark chocolate and cherry notes, with a smoky backbone. The Kolsch yeast has a really nice fruitiness.

    I don't think so, and I don't particularly care of smoked/rauch beers. Sorry @Show

D&Q Minimart has plenty of Icon Blue Coffee Porter if you are in Houston.

Thanks, I finally found some. Its a good beer. I'll consider picking up a six of this new DR after the initial reviews roll out. History says it will still be around in 2 weeks.

Yep, plenty of smoke but still balanced IMO and not overwhelming. I am sure @Show would want more  but I can pick it up pretty easily.

Two people who's palettes are much better than mine at detecting subtlety both said it could be the best DR, pretty lofty expectations but I ain't fooling around anymore. I am glad the guy who was at Specs at 6 o'clock didn't buy 200 cases.
